How do you pray for this?

I have a problem. How can I pray for two things that counteract each other. Meaning if I got one It would cancel out the other. And there’s another aspect to this request is it may be that I don’t get either one of them. How is it possible to pray for two things that may be or may not be God’s will for my life?

First, discern what is God's will and pray accordingly. If you're not sure, just find out what God's will is for you according to whatever the situation is and pray the promises back.

Pray only that God's will be done. That's safe.

God can do better with us, than what we can plan ahead. And He can work things together, that we thought could not fit together. So, I pray for God to do what He wants; if I have an interest, I be quiet about it, in prayer, and submit for what God wants to do with me.

And I have discovered how things I hoped for even decades earlier have somehow worked out now in my life . . . but after I have been prepared in prayer with God's word and correction.

Let's say I enjoy washing dishes in a restaurant, but I'd love to be a doctor and help people. That would seem not possible, to do both.

But what could work out is I have a companion who is somewhat disabled, I do her dishes, and I use my medical background to help her in cooperation with her care givers.

So, there is how love has the two working with one another, though I am neither a restaurant dishwasher nor a doctor :)

I could have been a great dishwasher, but mainly showing off how fast I could work, not loving and caring about other workers. And if I had been a doctor, I would have been self-righteous about how caring I was, but not really relating with compassion with my patients . . . and my other workers.

But with one person . . . I can learn how to love, plus share with her family and friends and ones she helps. And so also I am helping and supporting her in her ministering to people around her; so I am her missionary assistant; and I used to think and wish I could be a missionary's assistant, but decide God would not do that with me :)
