yeahI read the stuff that leaves you hoping the artist/writer/creator person doesn't die anytime soon because you NEED to know how the story ends

Oh yeah. Like I've said before, my mom's not too fond of fantasy, so we don't BUY comic books; I read them at the bookstore whenever we go to the mall or whatever. A few weeks ago, I started reading one that was so good, I was almost mad when we had to leave the bookstore. Honestly, I don't see why not as many writers read comic books. They have some of the best witty comments I've ever read. EXAMPLES:
"That guy is crazy. Like, cult crazy. Like, don't drink the Kool-Aid crazy!"
(During a simulation where each student takes on the identity of a different X-Man)
"Who am I? And why do I have a mullet?"
"At least Miss Frost decided to start wearing pants."

At least in my opinion, infodumping is inherrently obnoxious because for it to be called infoDUMPING the author must bog the reader down with so much information that is either unnecessary(sp?) or gives away half the plot that the reader is either bored and/or knows the entire plot. Some 'talented' authors can give away the plot without infodumping, but we won't go there right now.
I'm reading a book that my grandmother got me for Christmas, and it is some of the WORST writing I've ever read. On the third page, the author went on for almost two pages about how the main character's father acted when he was drunk, how she'd never been to church, how she wanted to go to church so badly, and on and on and on...
It kind of made me want to light the book on fire.

Another reason why the book I'm reading is so bad is because the author seems to think her readers are so stupid that they can't figure out that the main character is nervous, tired, etc. Ugh.
