What does your ideal Sabbath sound like?

For me, its...

A nice warm sunny day. I'd ideally spend lots of time alone so I could talk to God out loud.

I'd be awake enough from the week to spend lots of time reading without falling asleep. I'd read non-fiction religious material. Some of it study, some of it non-fiction stories from Christians.

I'd spend some time on here talking with fellow Christians

I would not go to church. I do not like church personally :( I find it demotivational and it disrupts Sabbath, where I'd rather just relax, unwind, and study, and church is very taxing. Not only must you go through the social motions but the services aren't exactly thought provoking nor very relevant nor very helpful at all, a lot of fluff. Not real. I'd rather have a real experience with God. At least this is my personal church experience.

I'd also like to go listen to people singing hymns :)

So whats your ideal sabbath?

I have several versions of what my favorite Sabbath would be like. If I am not working that day then I would get up around 7:30 and make our "special breakfast." If going to church, then we get there in time for the kids to get a good bit of Sabbath School. Church is over by 12:15, potluck by 2 and home to chill out for the rest of the day. If staying home with family I'd like a relaxing day with kids watching VeggieTales and not jumping on me the moment I sink into a deep sleep. Maybe a drive to the Botanical Gardens or the beach in the evening.
If I am working, I want no codes, no difficult patients/family members, no admissions, and no doctor who would rather be golfing.

I agree about the church thing Windmill. Sometimes its pretty good, but other times it just drains me or gets me riled up(we have a few legalists who preach every once and a while). I like to post on here, talk with friends, or read theological papers. I also love to be out in nature, like in a walking trail in the park.

I am writing to you from campmeeting at Soquel, California. Here it's like Sabbath every day for a week. I'm attending seminars and worships, and hearing great speakers, and fellowshipping with friends.

I'm also experiencing God speaking to me about a few things it seems I forgot about. I am feeling convicted about making some changes in my life. If I am committed to being a different person when the sun goes down than I was whan it went down yesterday, that to me is the best possible Sabbath experience.

I Generally work out and relax Friday evening. Maybe play some computer games.

Saturday I occasionally go to church (2 weekends a month). This is a lot more often than I did in years past. Basically, I find myself getting distracted from God, and church pulls me back. Also, I have an easier time praising as a member of a group than I do by myself. If I don't go to church, I at least have a small worship and study time by myself. I haven't gone to church in two months though, partly because I have been feeling some dissatisfaction with it recently.

When I go to church, I generally get there at 11:30, which during the singing (it is suppose to start at 11, but is a bit late often). Sometimes I get there as early as 11. The sermon often doesn't start until afternoon, and doesn't get over until after 1 pm and occasionally as late as 2 pm. Often when I went very regularly, I would go out into the community to spread flyers (mostly did this last year, twice a month). Very rarely I would stay around or come back for the evening stuff. But it hasn't really done much for me most of the time I went, so I quit going to it.

Sometimes in the afternoon I exercise or go for a walk in the park or something, or play some more video games. Generally in the evening I go and play Magic or a board game with people. This isn't on Sabbath during the winter, but is during the summer.
