• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How do you know when you have an eating disorder or are heading there? What are some of the signs and symptoms of this to know if you are one with an ED or are inclined to be one? I'm afraid I might be heading there, but I'm not sure so any info would really be of help.

The only things that bother me are my constant evaluation of myself. I evaluate myself before I eat, after I eat. I have also tried many times to quit taking diet pills, but the fear of getting fat has only led me back to them time and again, and I know they're not good for my health. I've had this obsession with weight since I was a little girl.

I think one sign of an eating disorder is if any of your emotions or things contributing to mental stress have food as a factor - or has food as either a cause or effect of the stress and/or emotions you feel. Some people respond to this stress by being unable to eat much of anything - some people can't stop eating.

That could be a start to an ED, also depending on your eating patterns/beahviors & how long they last.

It seems your weight bother you so much... Do you think you are overweight?

Well just curiously: how much would you like to lose? Have the pills help you reach what you wanted? Do you have a limit on how much you want to lose?

No. I'm actually a healthy weight for my size. I'm just not as thin as I would like to be and I don't want to gain weight and get fat.

I don't really have a limit on how much I want to lose. Just until I feel satisfied with how I look.
