• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

First off, any doc who tells you that you are too ANYTHING to have an eating disorder doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Weight really doesn't matter. You can have a serious eating disorder without completely falling under the DSM-IV criteria for bulimia or anorexia nervosa. That's where EDNOS comes in. And EDNOS can be just as life threatening as the medical definitions of ana and mia.

You've got problems with food. You've got self esteem issues. You think you're fat when you aren't. These are all symptoms of an eating disorder. I can't diagnose you as it's online and I'm not a doc, but please treat these problems as an eating disorder. They aren't normal. Purging isn't a normal behaviour. Nor is restricting/starving.

That's the cool thing about a nutritionist. They can help you regulate what you eat so you know that you're eating a healthy amount - no starving, no bingeing - and also with eating more, you will lose fat weight and gain lean muscle tissue. I've found this out from personal experience.

I hope that makes some sense, Bec. If you can, I really would encourage you to talk to your psych more about your eating problems. Please. I don't want them getting any more serious than they already are.

All I can say is, April's completely right! Hun, we can't diagnose you on the internet and the best way to find out if you have an ED is to ask a doctor about it. Sis, please, please think about it

Bec if you want to go see a doctor (which I recommend), I will come with you, if you would like some support. And that's huge because I hate doctors with a passion and would rather chew off my own arm than enter a hospital or doctor's office.

So yeah. The offer is on the table. Anytime.
Wow - Bec, I'd take that offer!

Please don't chew off your arm Squiggle...

lol... seems like it is going to be awhile until we get to discuss u! lol... not fair :p... lol... i think i will just fast forward the clock to discussing u! :p

lol oi, this is your thread. :)

Honestly, let me know. My exams finish in about three weeks, so you have that long to gather the courage, if you would like me to come with you. I would come earlier, but due to transport issues, I'll probably need a whole day to get there and home, haha. :)
