It's an obvious abuse of power. Will he be successful at what, deceiving people?

He knows that there is no security threat at the southern border. He must keep up such appearances for his supporters sake because he does not want them to ponder that he himself may be wrong, or is outright lying to them. I am still not convinced that he didn't know Obama was born in the U.S.A. the whole time he was selling that hoax to his supporters. And I'm not even sure his supporters even care whether he is deceived and deceiving because it seems that they actually enjoy believing ill of others.

I was against it at first but after looking into the legal requirements of declaring an emergency I'm in favor of it.

We are in a position where some members of the Congress do not like our laws, but instead of changing the laws, they want to choke off money to those charged with enforcing the laws. Failing to fund law enforcement is an end run around the law. Trump's re-apportionment of funding to enforce the law is an end run around the end run.

By the way, the Congress will not change our immigration laws because...wait for it...the people do not want our immigration laws changed. The last time it was attempted a sitting Speaker of the House was rather unceremoniously voted out of office.

We can either have laws and enforce them or we can change the laws. There are no end runs.

I think faux border threats should be met with a faux wall. Wasn't Mexico going to pay for that wall?

In keeping his base from realizing how badly Rep. Pelosi beat "The art of the deal President"? Not so far.

Is he back in the White House now after his golfing excursion? I wonder if he still feels like he didn't need to declare the national emergency so quickly since he just wanted to build the wall faster.

    Article excerpt:

“I didn’t need to do this,” Trump said. “But I’d rather do it much faster.” Trump then blamed 2020 politics for Democrats not supporting wall and repeated: "I just want to do it faster.”

‘I didn’t need to do this’: Trump just kneecapped his own case for a ‘national emergency’

This is not true. There is plenty of money allocated to enforcing the laws.
Any reasoning based upon falsehood ends in a contradiction, (hypocrisy). That's why Trump lost in the courts concerning trying to do an end run around the asylum laws, it's illegal. The courts said that it is also illegal for Trump to take people's children from them and make them orphans. Those are the facts and the reality that you need to embrace. You need to admit that Trump has been the one breaking the laws concerning the handling of immigrants.

Tell it to Trump, not to the law abiding people.

When members of Congress fail to provide funding for law enforcement and run an election based on their outright promises to end funding for law enforcement that is an end run around the law. Rather than that, if they do not like the law they should change the law.

First off, you're simply asserting things without any evidence. That is an indication that you are being controlled through propaganda. What laws are being skirted exactly according to this as yet unsubstantiated claim? Do you even know, or are you just repeating something you heard? To reason properly you must first ascertain as in for a certainty whether there actually is a National emergency. If not then you are open to being blind to seeing that this is an end run to skirt the laws by Trump, which would explain why you display a hypocritical reasoning.

Secondly, this is important: Any reasoning based on falsehood ends in a contradiction (hypocrisy). So don't think for a moment that lies and those who are deceived by those lies cannot be exposed. For example since the constitution is the law of the land, and it expressly gives the congress the power of the purse to spend taxes as they see appropriate, then there are no laws being broken by congress concerning what they choose to fund.

How I feel is irrelevant to whether or not it is an appropriate step to take. We should be considering facts not feelings.

Well, first things first. Are you saying that no congressional representatives have promised to cut funding for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement when I saw and heard them say it?

Are there NOT thousands of people passing through Mexico intending to cross the US border illegally?

Are NOT the vast majority of those thousands who are planning to seek asylum in the U.S. not eligible for asylum under our laws and are they NOT entitled to claim asylum in the us under international law?

Are you claiming that the goverments of the Mexican States are NOT assisting them in reaching the US border?

I agree with trump we have borders the USA begans at each one of them. are rule of law begans at each one of them ..are way of life begans at each one of them. the problem is people out side are borders are trying to change are rule of law .are way of life to tare down America .you ask how is that hurting me .I have to follow the rules and these rules make my way of life .let's look at housing the price of rent is higher thin the price of buying most of are children when they leave home rent a home .now they can't afford to so they stay home longer .jobs don't pay as well as they use to .I could go on and name ways my life as changed.it all starts with the rule of law to make my way of life. am I going to follow them or brake them there is a right way to come in to America and a wrong way .it seems to me that a wall will work .the Democrats answer is more government workers to me that is a way the government can take control of your way of life and take away are freedoms that we have under are laws

Please choose your words carefully. For example, I have no idea what you have heard and seen some congress person say. But assuming that they said what you say, it still doesn't justify declaring a National emergency based on any improper and unlawful behavior. Also please consider that you're talking to someone who believes that those who knowingly participated in taking peoples children away from their parents and making them orphans, should go to jail.
There has always been people crossing over the border back and forth as a way of life. The growing power of violent drug cartels have precipitated the influx of those seeking sanctuary here in America. I cannot honestly state whether they intend to enter illegally or legally, but the Holy Spirit in me affords me the compassion to understand how out of desperation to save their lives, some would consider it the only viable course of action, particularly if on the American side officials were actively undermining the fair and due process concerning asylum seekers provided through the law.

Again any reasoning based on falsehood ends in a contradiction. They are all entitled under our laws and international law to apply for asylum. There is a fair and a due process that must be adhered to so as to determine eligibility and legitimacy. To claim that they are not eligible before they even apply is a contradiction in reasoning. So since this is obvious propaganda, you tell me why you believe someone would want to get you to believe that those coming here to seek asylum do not deserve asylum before even being processed and fairly evaluated?
God's Spirit would obligate them to do so. God is all about hope, faith and Love. Do you deny this?

There is no national emergency regarding illegal immigration. It only exists in the minds of Trump and his sycophants.

Illegal immigration has been going down for years.
Most illegal immigrants cross legally and over stay visas.
Illegal immigrants have a lower rate of violent crime that citizens.
Most drugs cross through legal ports of entry.

If he cared about any of these issues, Trump would be proposing solutions directed at the problems, no peddling in lies and trying to circumvent Congress and build his wall.

Every time I see Trump say that without borders we have no country, I am forced to wonder if people are really stupid enough to believe that without a wall there's no border and therefore there's no country. Everyone should know that there has always been a border and a country ever since the borders were drawn.

All reasoning based on falsehood ends in a contradiction. The current economy is being grown through bringing in a million legal immigrants every year, so it's unreasonable to blame those thousands seeking asylum here for the higher costs of housing and low wage jobs.

If illegal immigration is going down, how do you explain the caravans?
