Hello,

So, I am bipolar. Before medication, I could see God all around me (metaphorically speaking) and see the world as if it was brand new. But now that I'm on medication and am more emotionally stable, I have to make more of an effort to see God's presence in my life. So, my question is, how do you personally make your connection with God stronger? Because I want to feel close to God again without going off of my medications. Without my meds, I could literally die, so that is not an option unfortunately.

I build it daily with following the 55 maxims and most importantly having a time in the morning and a time in the evening to pray (keeping prayer rules like this help a lot, your "official" sessions of talking with God is something you look forward to each day, and live to "present" yourself for them by following His commandments the best you're graced to).

Another thing in addition to that is keeping in mind constantly all things are God's and gifts of God, so you thank Him and praise Him constantly throughout the day, and seek to use yourself and all things in a way that would be fitting for a steward of God's gifts (the mind, your will, body, external things, etc). Psalm 24:1, Genesis 1:26, 1 Corinthians 4:1-2, Titus 1:7-9, Colossians 3:23.

With a change of mind by committing myself to him. This includes reading the Bible daily from each Testaments, it helps to have a broader understanding of God and Christ; fellowship with other Christians anyway I can possible, talking about all related things; prayers in the morning and night after reading to start my day and end it. I'd say trying to have a relationship that includes him in your life.

Hello and welcome to CF!

Just wanted to say that the 55 Maxims are excellent to increase our awareness, and to live by, and as you say, a regular rule if prayer, a meeting time with God, is essential.

Prayers for you. As you can see, I second Abaxvahl's suggestions. I would also say that we can't necessarily judge our spiritual state by feeling. Though I know that consolation is precious - but it comes in God's timing.

It sounds more like you're really describing an awareness of God in all things, and that hopefully could be maintained by meditating on the kinds of thoughts you had beforehand. Maybe in your case it would help to write things down? Or at times, reading such meditations along these lines written by other people. I know I've come across them and found them a delight, but I'm afraid I don't remember the sources. It is a part of Orthodox teaching though, so I'm sure it can be found there. If you like, I will ask around. :)

You might also like a little book called "The Practice of the Presence of God" by Bro. Lawrence. I usually reread it every few years, and I'm long overdue. :)

God be with you!

It is the Holy Spirit Who provides that strong connection, and nothing else will suffice! Accept God's love for you, the Gift of Jesus and His salvation and then you will always have that strong connection, regardless of meds or emotions. (((hug))) Nothing else to do but talk to God and accept His Gift.

I am not a big believer in meds. However, if you need them, you need them. You need to obey the Lord's commandments. That will bring you close to him.

Hi

How do you make your connection with God stronger?

If you want to develop a more intimate relationship with God you have to get to know Jesus better.

The good news, is salvation regenerates and restores our spirit and reconciles us back to God.

The born again experience is for the inside of the body.

Water baptism is for the outside of the body.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is to anoint and equip us for ministry or ministering.

The gifts of the Spirit are to meet people’s needs

The fruits of the Spirit are the characteristics we manifest, when we respond to situations, circumstances, and interact with other people regardless if they are good or bad.

The word of God is our spiritual food we need to become more intimate and familiar with the promises and teachings of God.

The longer we read the word, the more it renews our mind boy soul and spirit.

It transforms and disciplines our mind to help us become more Christ like in our knowledge understanding and nature.

Reading the word of God develops the fruits or characteristics of the Holy Spirit in our life, and this is what maintains and helps us to walk in the Spirit and be blameless before God.

Reading the word of God also helps to develop wisdom and revelation and to give us a better understanding and to clarify the teachings and application of God’s word in our lives.

Reading the word of God helps us to get to know the characteristics and nature of Jesus, the word is Jesus and the more you consume it the more you will become like Jesus.

This is how you get to know and become like Jesus, by getting to know his word and his words and teachings.

This is what makes your relationship with God even stronger.

There are a few more things but this is the gist of it.

I hope this helps you.

Peace.
