How do you do it and why?

I know this is probably asking a lot from random internet goers. I just need some of you people to level with me here. People in RL just aren't as bold.

What does christianity mean to you? Is it your everything, kinda convenient or...?

Why is it so important that you are willing to revolve some if not all your life around it?

Lastly, when did christianity begin for you and do you feel like you have progressed spiritually because of it?

Go into as much detail as you want, it's all helpful.

I'm sure many of you are normal people with the ability to think and reason for yourself and for whatever reason you have chosen to "give your life" to a God your hoping in. To me thats serious stuff. I am not knocking it, i just want some honest insight from you. If you don't wanna announce it i'm happy to receive a PM.

I believe the kind of life and the kind of way of living in this world as spoken by Jesus, and exemplified in Jesus is simply the most radical thing to ever transpire in the entire course of human history.

That's probably putting it somewhat mildly; perhaps another way to put it is this: The kingdom which Jesus proclaimed, a kingdom that radically turns the entire social order of just about everything on top of its head and invites people into a brand new kind of social order through which God is actively changing and transforming the world is far better than anything else.

For me Christianity isn't simply a religious ethic with some neat theological tidbits as a side dish, but a radically different method of existing in the world: spiritually, politically, ethically, socially, humanly. The theology of Christianity is the meat of this political-ethical-social movement begun in and by Jesus and continued on by His apostles and Church.

I don't love my neighbor because it helps my position or station with God, but because in pouring our lives out for the sake of others in imitation of God in Christ is exactly the sort of world God is building here and now and coming about in its fullness at the Parousia/Eschaton.

It's hardly convenient, but it defines me at the deepest levels.

Before I became a Christian, I was not satisfied with the consistency of my life, which was basically to live for pleasure and then die. The thought of it became unbearable to me, to the point that I could no longer live for pleasure, and it was at that point that I wanted answers.

Lastly, when did christianity begin for you and do you feel like you have progressed spiritually because of it?
Progress is a relative thing I suppose. Did it provide me with a sense of meaning in life? You bet.

Even though I was a Christian as a young child, it didn't really begin for me until about 7 years ago when I was in my mid 20's. I decided to give "spirituality" a shot and I began to pray to God to show me the truth no matter what it cost me. I received the answer and was reconverted from agnosticism to christianity nearly over night.

I was burdened by my actions in the past that hurt other people and tried other methods to suppress this feeling, reduce it or try and remove it.

I also felt very selfish in my actions and yet I saw and appreciated people that seemed selfless.

I did not see any purpose to my life and seem to be heading in a bad direction.

Allowing God to forgive my sins took that burden away. I did not forget about my sins, but actually used them to become part of my witness to others (this is the way I was and here is what Christ has done for me.) Since those sins where used for a good purpose, I could now live with the fact I had done them (does that make sense?)

I really appreciate what others have done for me in bringing me to salvation, so I feel somewhat obligated to do the same for others, but it is not because of responsibility or to get something from it, because I have already been given everything. It is more my privilege and honor to give back.

This world has not become “easier”, but I do have purpose, I can understand why it is the way it is, and this world is not my home.

What does Christianity mean to you?
Freedom from Sin. Freedom from the Law as a way to obtain righteousness.

Is it your everything, kinda convenient or...?
It is my life it is how I run my businesses and it is how I run my family and personal life.

Why is it so important that you are willing to revolve some if not all your life around it?
Because it is a way of life.

Lastly, when did Christianity begin for you
After high school.

and do you feel like you have progressed spiritually because of it?
I'm not sure what this means

I'm sure many of you are normal people with the ability to think and reason for yourself and for whatever reason you have chosen to "give your life" to a God your hoping in.
:) There is no need to "hope" if/when God reveals himself to you.
