How do you describe worship? What do you think it really is? Is it feeling, is a truth magnified to you, is it a "tingly feeling," is it the atmosphere, is it a mix of all the above? How do you describe it?

I describe it as when you come to the point when you realize what you are doesn't matter, and what He is matters! You're not just thanking Him for what He has done for you, but more importantly, about who He is!

So how do you describe it?

I think John 3:30 is worship in a nutshell! :)

I once heard it said that "worship is a lifestyle", and that's true, I love that saying. I would describe worship as taking the focus/attention off of yourself and putting it on God. Kind of an adoration thing, going on there.

I've gotta say I've always thought it's funny when ppl think of worship as that oh-so-good warm & fuzzy feeling inside. It's kind of like saying that coughing is a cold, it's not it's symptom or a side affect that's caused by something deeper inside you. I mean sometimes ppl cough becuz the breathe in a scent that's too strong, you know? So anyways, it's the same way with "tingly feelings" and worship. It's just a good indication... at best.

btw Good question there.

I agree. However, we do immensely benefit from it, even if we're not doing it for ourselves.
Worship is much like prayer... It's amazing how it strengthens and comforts. It's indescribable, really. :)

Worship?

It's loving God. Not just an emotion, and not just an action...
Worship isn't always easy, nor does it always feel good. It's not always the result of being close to God or anything like that.

Worship is loving God... even when it hurts. Even when it's hard. Even when He seems distant. Even when we don't feel like it.
It means trusting Him when it makes no sense to do so.

Really... yeah, worship boils down to a type of surrender. The kind you'd find in a healthy RELATIONSHIP. Therein lies the key.

IMHO- worship is taking part in the relationship God has allowed us to have with Him. If we believe that He's worth the effort and trust that go into a relationship with Him, we will be able to put in that effort and trust.

I agree with all of the above.....it's a lifestlye. That is one of my worse pet peeves, not that I am trying to judge anyone by ANY means, but I constantly hear my friends make the comment "I'm so dissapointed because church was cancelled because of the snow, I was ready to go worship!". I mean, hopefully just not going to church will inhibit you from worshipping in the first place! But it's a personal relationship with God....knowing He's always in control and a first priority in our lives!

For me worship is this:
As a believer, worship is what I should be doing 24/7. I'm living my life in worship to Him, It's not just about an event we have every sunday. Our worship is what we do/think/say every minute or every day of every year of my life. We need to think about what we're bringing to God today... am I bringing Him praises? am I thanking Him for the marvellous things He's done ? - or am I going to bring Him a whole load of anger or selfishness or or jealousy etc. We are living out our faith.. our deeds back-up the type of faith we have. We need to worship God with our every breath, our every longing, in strength, body, mind, and spirit and heart.

I guess thats my two cents on the matter :)

When I worship the Lord I have a feeling in me that is awesome and wonderful, my heart and soul are in a place that is peaceful and full of love. I feel the Lords presence so strong when I am in worship with Him. I make this a daily routine to have time alone with God , to read my Bible, and Worship Him, not just alone in my room but also through glorifying him out with others in the community.

I agree with most of the above posts, make a lot of sense...

Someone mentioned it before, I believe that the truest worship is complete and utter surrender to Christ. Worship therefore is a choice, and a voluntary action, it involves submission of our will, our thoughts and dreams, over to Christ, and allowing His will to be done in our lives. This is our LIVING WORSHIP - a sacrifice of our desires in order to please God.

Louis Giglio of the Passion movement in the States said that in his mind, worship was "running after the heart of God with all of our lives." That makes sense to me, as this involves setting down our own desires and providing a place for the will of God to be done in our lives.

May we all be true and sincere in our LIVING WORSHIP OF GOD! Blessings y'all
