This might sound good in theory but in practice conservatives in the real world do not always advocate things that are truly good. This guy is advocating for a principled conservativism at best, which is not unreasonable, but that doesn't necessarily mean voting Republican in this current political climate.

I don't think that the lesson to be taken out of the little video course ought to be that conservationism is good, and leftism is bad. Certainly Dennis Prager is a conservative, but he comes from a very liberal Jewish family. Most of his loved ones are liberal, and he knows that they are good people.
The lesson to be taken is that any policy, either conservative or liberal, ought to be judged according to its results. It make make us feel good to give the derelict on the street 20 dollars, and we may walk away believing that our intents have made the world a better place, but if the results are the derelict buying a bottle of Jack Daniels, and stabbing somebody in a drunken fury, it is the results of the action that ought to be used to determine our future actions in this regard.
The welfare state has been entered into with the best of intentions, but the results of people living their lives in perpetual dependence have been soul destroying on entire communities. Perpetual welfare breaks the spirit like nothing else can.

It is not like conservative policies ought not be judged by the same standard either. For example, a free market health system that leaves a third of the population dying in the streets ought to be subject to the same criticism too.

The reason that the question of left and right enters the discussion is because so many on the left subscribe to policies because they feel that they are the right thing to do, and assume therefore that people who do no subscribe to their beliefs are therefore motivated by bad intent. Dennis Prager makes the point over and over that conservatives do not believe that liberals are evil. but are simply wrong.

It is not a question of being right wing or left wing. Being right or wrong is a question of results. Any policy, minimum wage or whatever, needs to be judge not by the intent behind the policy, but by the results that the policy has on improving society.

If you want to destroy the left right divide we need to destroy the trust people have in the lying media that is causing it. If everyone tuned out to the news and blocked its influence on their lives and went to church and got involved in their local communities the division would disappear totally.

For the division to be cultivated and exist it must be fed. The way back to unity is rebelling against traditional media and social media.
