  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

IOW, since you believe THE CHURCH is YOUR CHURCH... scripture was never meant to be used by anyone other than "us good guys." so you can in your mind, invalidate the thoughts and arguments of anyone who doesn't adhere to the Orthodox party line.

love that false humility.

which is funny. That is the standard of the EO. "hey, this is history, live with it." Double standard much?

isEVERYONE who disagrees with Sola Scriptura, ignorant of it? It's quite trying. this stupid line gets trotted out on a daily basis.

I'm sorry, but I really can't take this horrific argument from you again without saying something. It is utmost arrogance to you to speak like this. You call everyone other than those who toady up to your chosen Church, Gnostic. IOW, hey, if you don't kiss our blarney stone, you're heretics.

I reject this as hopelessly arrogant, and exactly like the Pharisees that Jesus gave the gears too.

"Oh, God, I thank you that I'm not like these other sinners!"

you should be ashamed of that statement.

Did you say something worth talking about?

Forgive me...

What are you taking up a notch?

Perhaps we should not speak to each other for a while.

Forgive me...
I wasn't. you were.

you were elevating the arrogance level just a little bit more.

but yes, if you want to drop your "everyone else is a heretic" dung bomb, and then run off, feel free.

If we are being taught a "false Gospel?"

I was raised in such a situation. I was very devoted to it for many years, however, there were always questions I had about certain doctrines I was taught that never stacked up against what I read in scripture. I was told that those were verses we wouldn't understand this side of glory, and/or, that I needed the Holy Spirit to help me interpret them their way. So, I started looking around. I found a lot of groups that called themselves Christian and didn't agree on doctrine. I found that to be unacceptable.

I always assumed that the bible wouldn't lie when it said that our God isn't a God of confusion. Funny thing is, many of these groups have no trouble saying the others are Christian so long as they all leave the others to their own thing. What they absolutely can't abide though, is when a group claims to be Christ's Holy Church, because that upsets the apple cart. Nobody likes to think that they're believing in modern innovation and the doctrines of men.

It boils down to someone having to be wrong. Some groups are more or less wrong than others, but that doesn't make them any less wrong. There is one Truth and one faith. There isn't such a thing as agreeing to disagree. The Truth often seems arrogant to those who don't believe it. It makes people feel judged when all that is being asserted is, 'This is THE truth. You either adhere to this faith or you do not.' There's no personal judging going on as one has the choice to follow the truth or not.

Anyway, how do you know? Well, if it is a false gospel it will eventually lose it's luster, because it will ultimately not produce any good fruit in you. For me, I went to church every week and got absolutely nothing out of it. So, with the lack of truth around, I eventually left.

tends to happen when somebody pulls the "everyone else is a heretic but me" crap.

Why should you care anyway? You're saved? ;)

But you both argue against 'traditionalist' churches and say it doesn't matter.

Sounds very confused

so you found a place that agrees with itself. congrats.

as for the "there is no personal judging" I've discovered that to be very much untrue. False humility runs rampant in the churches that practice the "one true church" mentality.

perhaps some of us speak up when other Christians are being arrogant bigots about Christianity. perhaps thats why someone might care.

stop addressing me, I am not interested in the merry-go-round of trying to keep you from misrepresenting what I say.

The church says this... the church says that... lol...
pretty much.

But UB tell me truly do you believe any of us (in all honesty) are we saved? I have been told by many Protestants that I am not since I am a idol worshiper... I am not saved... Don't you think that the 'judgment' is on your side too ??
I believe any that call on Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, as saved. that would include you. "many protestants" is irrelevant to me.

Which is in defiance of Jesus who said not all who call "Lord! Lord!" will be saved

But you'd know better

Apparently I can be, but still believe in a cart of old horse dung at the same time!

Remarkable how confused Protestant's 'once-in-a-lifetime' offer of salvation works.

Luther could still be saved even whilst he was urging the utter slaughter of Anabaptists, and the persecution of Jews

yes, I know. You're likely to press your agenda no matter what anyone wishes. If I ignore your posts, you'll just continue to twist what I say, and claim some moral victory. For twisting, see below.

I didn't say you believe in a cart of old horse dung. I said the claim that "we don't judge" is a cart of horse dung. You do. You make personal judgements. You claim you don't.

perhaps this will help.

What 'agenda'? I ask you again what does it matter what I believe in if we're all 'saved'?

So if I don't believe in 'horse dung' you agree with what I believe in?

Do you see any silliness in directing someone to a web-site to help them read when you don't think that they can read? :D
