  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I went on a mission trip last summer. I went with my church. My church sends out 3 short term mission trips every year. The year I went they were to Rio Verde, Brazil; Cherokee, North Carolina; and Huancavalica, Peru, This year they went to Guadilajara,Mexico instead of Peru. For short term missions, the best place to find one is a church, however, if you want a long term mission, you will need to talk to a mission company (or a longer short term mission)

As far as who pays for it, well, (I'm guessing its the same everywhere) you send out support letters asking for prayer and if they feel led, a bit of money.

Now how much it is, well, that depends on the mission. The North Carolina trip is around $400, but when I went to Peru it was aroun $1300 (I think, it might have been less). The main effect of cost is WHERE you are going, for plane tickets and such.

there are several ways to go on mission trips.... i personally went on a trip with Teen Missions International. but that was when i was 15. and as far as getting money to go on a trip like that all you have to do is ask. all i ever did was send out letters to friends and familly and they supported me to go on the trip. a lot of people think that if they can't go then why not send a person that can go for you. you can do fund raisers like you do in school for the band and all that good jazz. (no pun intended). another organization that is good to go on mission trips with is Teen Mania. Teen Missions International(TMI) is a rough bunch of people but it is sooo worth the trip. plus the length of a trip with TMI is much longer than any other organization that i know of. i hope that you found what you are looking for. here are some links to different mission organizations.
