"I sin purposely, but at the same time..I don't want to. Does that make sense? It's like almost overwhelming sometimes, but yet I know I could turn away from it if I asked God to help me. I don't know what to do."

it makes all to much sence....:(
A bit of advice on this. Read about Paul's struggle in Romans chapter seven. " The good that I would do, I do not, but the evil that I don't want to do, that I find myself doing." This is a struggle that we all find ourselves in at times.

Have you learned the passage, 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and )God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it."? What this passage says is that if we are having a problem in an area of our life that we can't control, and we pray for God to deliver us from this temptation, the way God does it is by allowing this temptation to come repeatedly until we see the way to avoidit that He has already provided. You need to pray for God's wisdom to help you see the "the way of escape also" that God has already provided.

even know that I belong to Him? And I don't mean..just saying a 10 word prayer to belong to Him. I mean actually belonging to Him, heart mind body and soul. I want to do this, yet I read some posts and I have witnessed in the Bible that it takes more than just words to save. As for the second part..what do I do? I'm so confused. I don't know anymore. I used to think I do, but I need help. God bless.
First of all, you already belong to him. Do you understand why Jesus is our savior? And then, do you believe He is our savior? Are you sorry for the sins you've committed? Will you promise to at least try not to sin again (noone's perfect, that's why I say try)? Will you stay in the company of people who are a good influence to you and stay away from people who are a bad influence?

If you've answered yes to these questions, then you are there already! I won't try to push any one kind of organized religion on you, because really we're all Christians, but if you are not already involved in a church or Bible study, I would recommend that.

For me, I belong to a non-denominational church and absolutely love it! We sing, we read the bible, we eat together, we gather together and we help each other when we need it. We are truly a family of God.

All you need to do is let Christ in your heart. He will not force His way in there. But if you hear him knocking, let Him in!!!

God Bless You!!!

Serene,

I have always found comfort in reading the book of Romans, ecspecially when it comes to sin issues. Look at Romans: (NIV)

14We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

Our sin nature is sooooo strong at times. I struggle with this area constantly. The key is to keep a repentant heart and to realize that the only time that we will reach perfection is when we die and go to be with Christ. You have to let God change your heart, this takes time.

Peace in Christ,

-Brian

Eh, it's not getting easier, but it's not supposed to, is it? =) Not only have I made a decision to ask Him to cleanse my spirit and heart, but I also need His help for what I'm undertaking currently, cleansing my body so I'll be able to serve Him better in the future...and simply because it's unhealthy for me to be big. =) Pray for success, please? Thank you all for your input, it's really appreciated. I read all replies, though I don't post always. God bless you all and thank you once again.
