How did you react on hearing the Christian message for the first time?

I can't remember as I was brought up a cradle catholic. But those of you who are late converts or late Christians, did the Christian message make sense to you immediately?
The message being: Our Father, God, creator sent His Son to Earth over 2000 years to die for our sins. He wanted us to know that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life
I didn't really try to understand this message until recently. It is an amazing story really.
That the creator of all life would send His only Son to die an awful death in the name of Truth.
In my secular moments, I feel disbelief. Unbelievable. The dying for our sins part is especially puzzling. Why not just tell us plainly what we need to do in order to wake up? Avoid the metaphor and miracles.
There surely would've been a more straightforward way to do it, is all I'm saying.

I rejoiced but then the seed was taken from me because the seed did not fall on fertile ground. The Parable of the Sower is a parable of Jesus found in the three Synoptic Gospels In the story, a sower sows seed on the path (way side), on rocky ground and among thorns, and it is lost; but when it falls on good earth it grows, yielding thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.

I went to Church all my life, but never 'heard' the Gospel until my thirties. Then it was from another mum in the Church. I really thank the Lord for her, she explained so much about prayer and the Lord Jesus, just general conversation while we waited for our children in Sunday school.

Having been raised a Jew and becoming an atheist in my teens I thought it was all nonsense. I used to argue all the time with the local pastor, "proving" that the New Testament was self- contradictory fiction. But God had other plans for me...

guess I didnt have good soil when I was a child.
I did not get saved until I was around 25 or 26 years old. Up until that point in time if a seed was planted it did not take root.

I struggled with depression in my teen years. After some Bible reading, spotty church attendance, & tracts, I decided one day that Jesus is the Way. Had a stint in fundamentalist type of church, then evangelical oriented churches, before becoming an Episcopalian.

Lately I struggle with the message more, mostly because of what I see in this country right now. I have my own doubts as well.
