How did you overcome your fear of going to the gym?

I have my own bike and live 10 minutes ride away from parkland, open countryside and fabulous scenery. I don't see the point of sitting on an exercise bike gawking at videos of Calvin Harris, turning my feet over and over and getting nowhere! It would be more fun being a hamster in an exercise wheel!

With all these big strong men walking around scaring people, how do you guys do it?

Don't spend anytime in the gym but the world in which I live is almost exclusively male and plenty of big strong men around the place. Generally speaking it has been my experience that the big strong men are usually the nicest kindest guys, assuming mutual respect and honesty is maintained. It is the average dude who is trying too hard who forgets respect and kindness, and who forgets that we all need guidance and encouragement to get where we are trying to go.

One of the things that originally attracted me to the gym was free access to the swimming pool. But then I discovered that I could have a muscle soak in the comfort of my own bath! All of this without even venturing outside my front door!

Yes I did think about painting a mural on the ceiling. Or maybe even putting in a few large mirrors to make me think I was part of a health club.
