I'm going back very many years to an old forum called True2Ourselves. It was going gang busters for a while. Nice guy that ran it. A good turn over of interesting discussions. I made a few online friends there. When I joined, I didn't want to use my normal email address. So I logged on to a site where you could get one for nothing. And had to think of an address name. I had the paper infront of me open at the sports section at the time and there was a story about my rugby league team - the Sydney City Roosters. Captained by a guy called Brad Fittler. One of the best players of all time. A real hero of mine. So...brad.fittler@something or other it became.

There was a guy who posted regularly there who was a Catholic. A real obnoxious bloke. He had an anger management problem and was regularly being banned for a couple of weeks. We did not get on. And then I discovered he'd joined the now defunct Catholics Answers forums. So I joined there to see what he was up to. But changed my forum name from Brad to Bradskii. I wanted to see if he'd make the connection if we entered into a discussion. But would you know it, he'd only been there two weeks and had already received a lifetime ban!

True2Ourselves eventually went under as well (this is my third forum - I hope I'm not on a hat trick). The person who ran it handed moderator priviliges over to someone else and it really was a case of the lunatics taking over the asylum.

So Bradskii it's been for a good number of years. And my avatar? Another hero of mine, the late and great physicist - Richard Feynman.

My name is CRAZY_CAT_ WOMAN, because my new Neighbor (a long time ago) got me into fixing feral or stray cats. And taking care of their kittens, finding homes for them. I got stuck with two, because of her. And they only like Fancy feast canned cat food. And they get what they want. Since they waist everything else. By refusing to eat anything else. I no longer deal with stray or feral cats. Unless my neighbor shows me another kitten, that will cost me $170 plus to get whatever parasites they have. Also, I refuse to have a cat. Unless I can afford to fix them. I can use another name. Because I done with cat thing and always wanted greyhound dogs. My name isn't Christian, Atheist or any belief or not. That's weird to me. When I first came here, I was seeking bible belief. Which was supposed to be Christian oriented. But I haven't seen anything that make see that most Christians are good at all. Just the opposite.

Simple, Robban is what is most what people call me,

that will say after we have exchanged a few words.

Pretty informal really.

If avatar means the picture up to the left, it is because a lighthouse is........well a lighthouse.

I was on a forum a few years ago, Ships nostalgia think it was called, but I stopped being there.

It was ok but it started to awaken a bitterness from within, thinking back on the happy days.

Great people though.

But changed my forum name from Brad to Bradskii.
Technically, I do believe that you started out with only one eye.

My forum name actually goes all the way back to the beginning of the internet itself. I've been on BBS's since Usenet and Fidonet, when I had to log on with a phone and a 300 baud modem. No graphics...only text. Of course "partinobodycular" was too long at the time, so I had to use a derivation thereof. I remember waiting up until after midnight to snag that username when they finally made the switch over to 16 bit. I've used that screen name in a whole lot of places since then. But I've still got that original one. How much is an antique user name going for nowadays?

Focus on the Master is my only remedy, hence, forgiveness being in plenty, Rock and Anchor, simple as also with the avatar. All else, insanity (not alternative avatars mind you). :) Thanks for the update.

Paidiske is the Koine Greek work for a servant girl. It's in the new testament for, say, the servant who opened the door or gate, in a couple of places. I picked it for my blog back when I was working as a verger, which is very much about opening and closing the doors, and that sort of thing. And then have used it in various places since.

When I first joined this site I didn't choose an avatar; somehow the software picked up a picture I'd once loaded on gravatar or something and came up with what you see. For a while I used other things, especially when I was a mod, because some people find the sight of a woman in clerical dress inflammatory. But I went back to this later because I felt I shouldn't have to be apologetic about who I am.

I joined in 2020 so my username, MMXX is 2020 in Roman numerals.

This was mainly a result of not wanting to rack my brains out on coming up with a username that hadn't already been taken on an old forum.

I picked my avatar because C.S. Lewis was generally laid-back, like I am. And he was about my age when that picture was taken.

St Anthony of Padua is famous for having a hand-printed book of psalms with notes which he used to teach new people in the Franciscan order. The story goes that the psalter and notes got stolen and St.Anthony prayed for their return. The perpetrator is said to have returned the book and was forgiven for his wrongdoing.

As someone who is prone to losing things and asking God to help me find them, Anthony was the obvious choice for a username!

It is also one of my middle names....

When I was in the Marines, we had a support unit near us whose acronym was HAMS. So we referred to them as Hamsters. One day my OIC made the connection between their name and my last name, Hamm, and Hammster was born.

My current avatar (and I’ve had many through the years) is a reminder that obedience to God defeats tyranny.

As with your influences, similar heuristics went into how I dreamed up my forum name, but in my case one main influence was my having read Frank Close's book, The Void. That, and the fact that I'm a lite-existentialist. My pics just go with whatever blurb I happen to be inspired by at the moment.

And that's my story.

The name Freth came about long before I was a professing Christian.

Just out of high school, my high school friends and I would get together on the weekends and go play pool in a small town some thirty miles from where I lived. The pool "hall" was in the back of a video rental. They had a jukebox and you could order breadsticks and marinara, and a few other snacks. It was a nice place for young adults to hang out and have fun.

Playing pool every weekend, you meet new people; mostly friends of friends. A small group of friends formed and we started hanging out together outside of the pool hall. We would go to a friend's farm house, which was actually a famous old inn from the 1800's. In one of those rooms, with tapestries, antique furniture and old wooden floors, we would gather for LAN gaming and D&D. One of my friends had a D&D character named Freth, which I adopted later for an online persona.

Most sites require a name of sorts, and often, especially when playing online games, or joining online services, you run into a situation where the name you want to use is already in use. Freth was one of those names that I latched onto, so that I didn't have to deal with that issue. After years of using this name, however, I've found that it is sometimes already in use.

The name Freth has no personal meaning to me, other than I've grown accustomed to using it. I have other names I've used over the years (and still use), but Freth is my main username.

I considered changing my name for this site specifically, to have a more appropriate Christian persona. That may happen sometime in the future, I don't know.

The avatar (picture) I use is a painting I found with Google images. This classic pose of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane has special meaning to me, because a family member painted this very pose, but I don't have a photo of that painting—so I chose this one to use as my avatar on CF.

I'm guessing because of the word of God is a two edged sword so I picked Blade but that was 2002 19y ago.. who remembers lol. I use to have a old knight on a horse as my avatar but my kids bought me this very old picture so I use that now.
