I understand that your argument boils down to faith. You have faith that God cannot lie. You have faith that God is the ultimate and universal standard of righteousness. And that's fine. But there is no way to demonstrate that objectively. Based on what we actually observe about how the world operates, it's more logical to conclude that if there an immanent Supreme Being, its true nature is evil.
I pressed him earlier on this, and he just can't bring himself to say that what he believes is not demonstrable and he could be wrong.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
...because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead." Acts17:31

Are you not going to answer my question?
And faith is the reason people give when they don't have good reasons for belief.
For some they might do just that.
For me, I have faith in God because I have good reason to trust Him.
See if this in any way changes anything:
For me, I have faith in Barney because I have good reason to trust Him.
How would I demonstrate this?
It does appear that your "good reason" is because you have faith.
Circular reasoning works because circular reasoning works...
I have answered your question the best I know how. If it is not acceptable to you, then I am sorry.
No need to apologize, you didn't even answer it.

"I know theists assume their god is good, wrote/directly influenced the bible, talks to you, etc., but how would you know if your god was either evil or a trickster and lying?"
The same way we know of most things - Experience. We experience a realm of morally good values and duties. These are objectively grounded in God's moral nature or they are delusion. I have no reason to believe my moral intuition is delusional.
Unless God exists, there is no moral good or evil. There is no objective grounding for any such thing.
Did I mention that everything Barney tells me is the truth?
Then you would do what He said.
I presume by "people" you are referring only to yourself. You like spending time talking with people who worship "fictional characters in books".
Grumpy today? Where are those oh-so-cool onionhead emoticons?Does that make you feel good about yourself?
