A lot of good advice. I'll add some things:
Know that it's not by your strength, but by His Spirit and Grace.
See yourself how God sees' you, already perfect, righteous, and holy completely washed by the Blood of Jesus.
It's who you are in Christ and you need to know what has been done for you completely by His Grace.
This is the Grace that frees us from sin.
Confess that:
"I AM THE RIGHTEOUS OF GOD BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS!"
"I AM A SAINT OF THE MOST HIGH GOD IN PERFECT HOLINESS BY HIS GRACE!
Seriously say this over and over and over and over again. Get it into your soul. (This isn't just Word-of-Faith, it's called whipping the devil with the Word of God

)
Get the righteous/Christ-conscience. Think about the perfection you have in Christ and give up thinking about the flesh and how you can do it in your own power.
When you realize who you are in Christ, Sin looses it's hold on you. When you are tempted you know it's no longer you because sin is no longer a part of you for you are the righteous of God. In Temptation, just confess who you are in Christ, tell satan he is a liar and rebuke him in the name of Jesus. Give glory to God for the work He's done in you, and that it had nothing to do with your own strength. That it's only by His Grace and His Spirit.
Do NOT meditate on the Law for this is what happens:
Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Rom 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Rom 7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Rom 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Rom 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. (KJV)
Also,
1Co 15:56 Now the sting of death is sin, and
the power of sin is the Law;
1Co 15:57 but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
So keep your eyes on Jesus and the perfection you have in Him. Temptation will even be less because you aren't thinking about it as much and the enemy has less opportunity to seize you.
Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Tit 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Tit 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness (notice it doesn't say Law), and because of this grace, which came first, we become 'zealous of good works'. It's never good works that gives us grace because trying to earn grace makes it no longer grace. What is grace? The free
unmerited love and favor of God, the spring and source of all the benefits men receive from him(Websters).
Another thing, as you draw closer to Him, sin will look more disgusting to you, especially knowing that Jesus bore our sins on His own body. How to draw closer to Him? Realize how much he loves you! As humans, we naturally love those who love us, so as we begin to learn and experience His love for us, we love and draw closer to Him even more. We love Him because He first loved us (1 Jn 4:19). Search out and get rooted in His infinite love which is beyond all knowledge and comprehension (Eph 3:16-21). His love is clearly seen through the Cross which is the source of all of God's grace to us. For "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13 KJV)
All our Grace comes solely from the Cross because God is a Holy God and can't let sin go unpunished. Every sin that we have done and ever will do was punished on the Cross. So every time someone sins, it was part of the whip that cracked on the back of our Lord, or part of the nails pounded into His hands and feet. So to the one saying "I'm going to sin because I'm forgiven" cares nothing for the Lord Jesus, since the Lord took great pain in order to be able to forgive. Truly that really is perverting Grace. However, for sincere Christians who ignorantly sin or truly are repented of such an attitude, you are not to feel condemnation for the Cross was always part of His plan to redeem you. If you let condemnation and fear of sinning come into your life, you'll just put yourself back into bondage. Stay focused on Jesus, not yourself!!!
This is exactly how God broke the power of sin in my life and
continues to reign over sin in my life.
