• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Uhmm...DruidHaxored, In your future walk with Christ, always remember one thing, and never forget it;

Salvation is a gift from God. He calls it GRACE. It's totally free.
Do we deserve it? Obviously not. Can we earn it? No, how do you EARN A GIFT?

When we have a job, we're "working for a wage". A wage is something we deserve. Why? Because we worked for it. We did something and in return they pay us our wage.

God says, "For the WAGES of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life."
He's showing us the difference between a "wage" and a "gift" (spiritually)

Bottom line; We deserve death because of sin. But salvation is a gift that we can in no way earn.

You are going to meet people who tell you otherwise. You might even see people (right on this board) say that we have to do this, you have to do that. You have to obey the "law", you have to keep the sabbath, you have to go to church, etc... In fact, you already have, if you read all the posts. It's nonsense.
The NT is FULL of warnings about people who pervert the truth, who teach false doctrine, who lead people astray. The Bible calls them wolves in sheep's clothing. They don't care about the sheep. They just want to look like a sheep. For their own purposes, lust, greed, want to look important. Want to look like a teacher. THEY ARE WANNABEES.
You have the Holy Ghost in you. It's His JOB to "lead and guide you into all truth"- Bible.
If someone tries to "cram the word of God down your throat", such as Tanzel, it shows that IT IS NOT THE SPIRIT OF GOD. God does not force anything on us, He prods us, He leads us. HE DOESN'T SHOVE US AROUND! He's gentle, patient, kind, loving, afectionate. God is in love with us. He doesn't try to shove His word down our throat.
He gives us a little nibble here, a little nibble there...here son, wash it down with some milk!
What would happen if you tried to "force feed a baby? You know, shovel it in. Baby would choke to death.
ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT !

I have been trying to stop lying, I have repented over and over again yet it seems impossible, I am a terrible liar and I try really hard to stop so how do I?

(1 John 3: 3 - 9) “Surely everyone who entertains this hope must purify himself, must try to be as pure as Christ. Any one who sins at all breaks the law, because to sin is to break the law. Now you know that He appeared in order to abolish sin, and that in Him there is no sin; anyone who lives in God does not sin, and anyone who sins has never seen Him or known Him. My children do not let anyone lead you astray; to live a holy life is to be holy just as He is holy; to lead a sinful life is to belong to the Devil, since the Devil was a sinner from the beginning. It was to undo all that the Devil has done that the Son of God appeared. No one who has been begotten by God sins: because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God.”

To live in God one needs to live the Word of God. In order to live the Word of God one needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

(Galatians 5:16)“Let me put it like this if you are guided by the Spirit you will be in no danger of yielding to self-indulgence....”.

I am going to give you the politically incorrect truth, and people will give me backlash for it, but that's Ok, I'm not a politically correct guy.

The answer is this, and listen to it well because very rarely will you hear it again: You don't go to Heaven because you are good. Don't let anyone tell you that you will, because it isn't true. You go to Heaven because you are forgiven, and this, this is very true. You are as much of a sinner as a serial killer, as much as a prostitute, and God holds you equal to them. Jesus walked with thieves and prostitutes, and asked God to forgive the people who were murdering him. No one becomes "more saved than others" because of the fact that they do things that other men don't like. God is your judge, not man. You don't "stop sinning", you must be forgiven from your sin. This is what the Bible as a whole teaches, but very rarely will Christians, or even pastors, teach it.

#1- Too many people use the word sin in a plural sense, as if sin is a "to do" list. Sin is not a "to do" list, sin is a disease, a disease that get's spread around. People forget that the Bible is full with so much wisdom that it doesn't just teach us "surfaces" (meaning, issues at the surface), but it also teaches us concepts (what it is that is behind the surface, the "why's). Therefor, too many people look for a "list of sins" throughout the whole Bible, and if they don't find a particular thing, then they think that what they have in mind must not be "a" sin. This leads to many problems, like Christians thinking they're better than everyone else and judging others, which is very unchristian like, more on that in a bit.

#2. Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit was sinful, not just because the Bible said so without a reason, but because it was the disobedience to God, and that is destructive. Sin is evil, and evil is not a force of it's own, it is simply the rejection on a force, and a creative force is good. Good can exist without evil, but evil cannot exist without good. Evil dosen't create anything, it just destroys. If you make a glass, it is good, you cannot make an evil glass, evil is the act of destroying the glass. Sin is evil, and sin is destruction. The whole entire universe is marred in sin. Your destiny is to be saved from it, not to stop it. There are no forms of sin that are greater than any other form of sin. Ofcourse, man will not be able to fully recognize this because of sociology, (who really feels comfortable with the notion that osama bin laden and a man who kills a fly are equally sinful in God's eyes?) but the Bible does not teach socially acceptable notions, it teaches the truth. And it teaches the truth in concept. There are forms of sin that aren't listed in the Bible, the Bible teaches the whole nature of sin, so that you can identify it in your life. Here on earth, we basically live in sin. We are sinful every time we start our cars in the morning and pollute the environment, we are sinful for smoking, sinfull for eating meat, sinfull for even getting angry, sinfull for thinking bad thoughts, if we are not perfect, we are sinners. I myself am a very honest person and I do a whole lot of right things in my life, and I will be the first to admit to you that you are no worse of a sinner than I am, there isn't such a thing. I will not judge you or anyone else. Become forgiven, and the spirit will guid your life and you will find yourself living in a holy way, not because you concentrated on being good, but because you concentrated on being forgiven, and thus being forgiven has led you to holy living. However, if you concentrate on "trying not to be a sinner", then you are falling for the "I have to do it myself" trap, and you will actually become worse at living in a holy way.

#3. The Bible does teach that you should be good. However, the Bible does not teach that you should be good for getting a reward for being good, the Bible teaches that you should be good just for the sake of being good, that this is God's way of life, and that Love will fulfill you greater than anything and that this fulfillment will put you on the right path to being saved. The Bible teaches that no man will ever get himself into Heaven, but only the forgiveness of your sin by accepting Jesus Christ does.

So, all you need to worry about is to do your best at being honest, because that is God's way of having you live out a fulfilling life while you are here on Earth. Being honest will not get you into Heaven more than a Liar, as you are equally as sinful as he. You may be a liar and he may be honest, and he may tell you to "get your act togewther as a "real" Christian", but he may be someone who cusses, and is a sinner himself. Do not go by anyone elses' standards, but just accept Jesus Christ as your savior, and pray to God for your answers, and hopefully he will make you very wise.

Most people believe God’s holy commandments are no longer to be kept in this world of modern Christianity? One of the most often quoted verses to try and do away with God’s Royal law comes from the writing of the Apostle Paul; (Rom. 6:14) For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace.
Now people will take this one verse and run with it, ignoring the writings of the others apostles and the prophets and the statements of even Jesus himself. Grace is nothing more than a free gift. And that free gift is our access back to the tree of life (Jesus) which Adam caused us to lose by disobeying God.

grace is much more than a 'free gift'. it is the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome our flesh nature. its not just an undeserved favor, it is also the power of God

But to maintain your grace you must keep the law.

the Bible says to prove all things. I'd like to see a Scripture stating this. for one, if we were ever able to keep the law then there'd be no need for grace. so if grace cannot be gained by keeping the law, then how can it be maintained by keeping the law?

Keeping the law will help you, its the only way.

now, i believe in holiness and obeying God's Word, but i do not believe it is achieved through the keeping of the law. i believe it is achieved by the grace of God - by the power of His Holy Spirit working in us to produce obedience and to produce holiness in our lives BY FAITH ALONE (Rom.4:20-22). the law cannot save us from sin. it can only reveal our sin to us. after that sin is revealed, it takes GRACE to overcome that sin, not keeping the law. i think you are changing the Gospel by admonishing the OP to focus on the law as opposed to focusing on the cross and GOD'S ability to keep him from falling into this sin. i think he already knows that lying is wrong. now he needs to know that God can help him overcome it. pointing him to the law will not do that. pointing him to the power of the Holy Spirit will

Love,

You need to stop listening or studying man’s teachings. Listen instead to the Holy Spirit. You are way off track and with your attitude may be leading other blind people to deep hole.

I get the feeling that you think I'm saying this because I'm trying to tell you something about myself. You hear "being forgiven is more imortant than being good" and all of a sudden you probably think "ahh here's another guy who just wants to justify being "bad", or just wants to "do this". Big mistake my good friend. I am more "good" than 90% of Christians I know, but, who's definition of good are we talking about here, man's or God's. This is new meaning to what constitutes as following man's teachings and following God's, it is not my attitude. Everything I say or think is through the Holy Spirit, and I am not way off track, we are not perfect, and therefore we as Christians will say things to each other that the other has not considered, since we are each only a part of a whole. Believe me, I am the exact opposite of what you just accised me of.

It's almost as If I have to tell you my personal testimony, how blessed I am, how much I pray and get answers, ect.. In order for me to get any credibility, but that right there is a form a judging, as if to say "oh, Ok, never mind", and that is against what Jesus taught or even stood for. That itself is a teaching of man.

I am NOT going by man's teachings, and that is kind of bashing to me or to anyone who has studied the Bible, or who is blessed from God with wisdom through the Holy Spirit regarding certain things, after prayer. I don't listen to the Bible scholars who teach me based off of their word alone, and you have no way of knowing that about me. I've had to find out the hard way in my life that when someone says "Well the Bible says...." or "this is in the Bible", that the only thing you have to do is READ the Bible, and the whole thing, because what they Bible says and what the Bible teaches as a whole are a little bit different when put into context. So the "it's in there, so therefore, it means this" teaching is what's actually incorrect, because anyone can just take any old scripture and act like It's a "to do" things. When

When books like Leviticus and Deuteronomy say things like "you're children shall be stoned to death", It's ok for us to understand that this is intended for us to be aware of our sinful nature, and that stoning your children would actually be sinful itself, but It's not OK to apply those concepts to other things. This is man's doing, not God's. The men who brought Jesus a woman that was caught in the act of adultery, told Jesus they were going to stone her. Jesus said "let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone". Jesus did not say "Let the one who has never commited adultery throw the first stone", Jesus is teaching us that all sin is the same, and ANY sinner who judges another sinner is guilty. Today I see alot of Christians who think like these men, not enough Christians who think like Jesus anf follow his example. Jesus spent his time around some of the most lost souls at that time, how many of do the same today instead of attempting to percecute like the men did?

As far as me leading people away from God, at this point I'm not even going to dignify that with much of a response. No knock on you, but that's just how I feel about that at this time.

By your understanding, I would me "more Christian" than you, by my understanding, I would not. You are either a follower of Christ or not, you aren't "more" of a follower or less of a follower than others, Jesus did not create this hierarchy line of thinking, man did. There are two types of Christians, Christians who bring people towards God, and Christians who bring people away from God. This is "Christians killing Christianity" so to speak. There are lots of things going on in the churches that both you and I have every right to be skeptical of. Although, this does not justify being against churches or Christianity in general, as some would try to have people believe. I am most definitely not one of them. Christianity is not the end, it is the beginning, you don't do good things because it will make you a good Christian, you do good things BECAUSE you are a Christian. What you do is fruit from the tree. When you see someone who is willingly bad, it is a givaway that he is not Christian, meaning, that what he is isn't bearing good fruit. You become a Christian, and the Holy Spirit's work within you changes you and you become a person who WANTS to do good things, and who WANTS to stop bad things. If you are a person who doesn't want to do good things, or dosen't want to stop bad things, it's because he/she doesn't have the Spirit working in him/her. It's not that he/she isn't "performing" good enough to be considered a good Christian, that is backwards. Looking at someone's works is the way to tell whether he or she ARE a Christian or not, not whether they are BEING a Christian. When someone becomes a Christian, alot of the thknhs that they used to like, they stop liking, and things they didn't like before, they start liking, things that they used to not be offended by, they become offended by, and things that used to offend them, don't offend them anymore. I am testament to this, it's the wants that indicate a Christian, but the works aren't what save you, It's an indicator of whether you have been saved.

Thesunbeast, I may have misjudged you, and if I have please forgive me. What I heard you saying is; it doesn’t matter if one is sinful or not. I believe it matters a whole lot. Being good may not get one to Heaven, but being bad will sure get one to Hell.

Jesus gave us his Holy Spirit and through the Holy Spirit gives us the grace to live God’s Word. Living God’s Word is what will determine if one makes it to Heaven or not.
