Is there any way to know for sure if I am demon-possessed?

My sinful past is one indication that I was not truly saved the first time around, and I've had to become saved again many times since then. I understand repentance, yet I still struggle to stop sinning. Sometimes it gets to the point that I feel as if I'm out of control of my own body. And the immense shame afterward is enough to know that I believe it's not right.

As long as you repent you will be forgiven. You may need a lifetime to shake a certain sin. God is pulling us out of the quicksand of sin slowly, so we come out in one piece. Don't give up.

I know the feeling. With my addiction, I felt like I had more in common with a wild animal than a human being. Realistically even when you have salvation, we will always be struggling with sin on some level. The awesome thing about having your salvation is that we are not alone in the battle. We have someone to go to even when we are in the middle of our sin. Truth is we are powerless against our sin on our own, that is why we need our salvation.

Another thing was learning how to live again. Jesus is our king and our teacher. I had to unlearn many things the world taught me about truth, love, and other aspects of life. I had to learn things from His perspective, not our broken and fallen interpretation of what He made. (1 Chronicles 7:14, 'seek my face')

Everything is a process, even our salvation. Do everything you can to get to Jesus, learn who he is and what he did for us, ask for prayer as many times as you need, talk to God and be real with him. He knows what is in your heart, nothing is hidden from him. Stop being afraid to let him see you as you are and let him walk in the door of your heart. Let him save you from yourself, as he did with me.

Do you still feel shame? I have asked for forgiveness dozens of times, but still, I feel like I'm far from God.

Christians cannot be demon possessed--once the Holy Spirit has moved in, all the demons must move out: the Holy Spirit will then commence to clean the house.

Christians, however, are still free to choose to sin, but now, the difference is, that they are now aware of the battle that is taking place, and the Holy Spirit is there to empower them to choose what is right, and also there to empower them to get up from a fall.

Satan will use our mistakes to try and convince us to leave the faith.

When I first believed, more than 20 years ago, I would repeatedly fall into sin, but now, it would be difficult to get me to sin--not impossible, but difficult--this is due to my spiritual growth, which is by the Holy Spirit, Who empowered me to persevere in practicing what is right, and overtime I grew in wisdom, and started to become aware of Satan's devices; and with this awareness came caution, and with this caution came skill, and by the grace of God I am still here, to testify of Christ, and how He saved my life.

So be patient, and do your best to obey what the Spirit has already said, which is found in the Holy Bible.

Just believe the Lord, to obey Him, and He, by His Spirit, will help you to grow; and the sins that now beset you will start to fall away from you.

Seek to be a Godly woman, and surround yourself with Godly people, and the Spirit will empower you to succeed against the tendencies of the flesh.

What about the Jezebel spirit?

From what I've learned, she had knowledge of Scripture and even prayed in the Spirit. However, she was possessed and only caused believers to fall away from God. I could unknowingly be carrying that spirit and ruining lives, saying all the right things but evil inside. It's almost undetectable until it's too late.

That's not how the Bible describes possessed people at all. I don't think you're possessed, but you may be oppressed. Which really just amounts to demons lying to you a little bit, then you believe the lies and your mind makes them bigger and more oppressive. The antidote to that is believing what God gave us in the Scriptures.

You would need to be actively influencing people in the church to embrace sexual immorality and/or idolatry for that to have the possibility of being true.

But I've done awful things. Given the chance, I would have never done any of them. That feels like an out of body experience or demon-possession.

So in other words, you did awful things and it felt like an out-of-body experience when you were doing them?

Were these awful things violent?

But I am negatively influencing people in the church: looking men in the eye, drawing attention to myself, and speaking on topics that I have no proper knowledge of

Which is absolutely nothing compared to what Jezebel was doing.

No, I've never done anything violent. They were more behavioral like living a sinful lifestyle without repentance

Sounds more like regular sin, possibly combined with a chemical imbalance then. In which case, you repent of the sin, and see a counselor or psychiatrist with the goal of living closer to your Christian values.

I could do that eventually though, and maybe I was just under her influence at that time.
Well, if you repent and get that sin out of your life and if you agree that God's ways as described in Scripture are good, then you're pretty well inoculated against that.

I've done that for many years, and it doesn't seem to be helping. I know that it is more than an imbalance. My problem is spiritual.

But something doesn't feel right. I still feel evil in my heart, like God has left me.

God promises not to leave his followers. God keeps his promises regardless of how we feel. It is very possible to feel so guilty and so ashamed that we forget that. We need to remind ourselves that he still loves us and is with us.
