If you have the self-awareness to ask this question, then you are not demon-possessed.

Oppression is a separate issue. That may be where you want to focus your efforts.
This is just not true.
Countless Christians have indwelling demons without having the slightest clue about it.

None of your scriptures demonstrate that Christians can't have demons.
And the very fact that we are commanded to cast them out refutes your false theology.

If salvation stops demons, why did Jesus command us to cast them out?
The distinction between possession and oppression must be made in order to understand: --A demonically possessed person is without control of themselves to the degree of possession; that is, a person possessed by a few demons, or by less powerful demons, retains much of their autonomy, yet a person possessed by many demons, or by powerful demons, retains almost no autonomy.

Demonic possession equates to actual loss of physical control, but only to the degree of possession.

Demonic Oppression, however, is without loss of actual autonomy, because it is an external attempt by demonic forces to influence the person to commit to do things that will open the door to possession.

Christians are to resist these forces, and they will flee from Christians; however, none-Christians are without power to resist.

We are commanded to cast demons out, and to then teach the gospel, and baptize believers for the gift of the Holy Spirit, Who will then occupy the now empty house, and begin His work in that person.

The Holy Spirit, unlike demonic spirits, will not violate a person's God-given autonomy, but will instead, become one with that person, and start to conform them into the image of Christ.

Christians, are by definition, like Christ; and like Christ, they are free from demons.

Oppression and Possession are not synonymous.

It is absurd to think that the Holy Spirit will dwell in the same place a demon does--and even more absurd to think that a demon can occupy the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.

Open your eyes, and turn from this doctrine, and accept the truth, that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty!

How often do you read the Bible and pray? Make sure it is daily. You said that you have a promiscuous past. Those feelings of lust just aren't going to go away. Although I've been celibate for almost 18 months I still struggle with it constantly. You also have to remember that sexual attraction is completely normal part of being human. Pray for help with these things you will receive it, but it will done on God's schedule. Remember that Peter said that the adversary (Satan) is roaring Lion constantly looking for prey (causing people to sin and or turn away from God).

I try to pray and read Scripture at least once a day, but I should be more disciplined with it.

As for the promiscuity, it has more to do with abuse and addictions than lust. Trust me I never desired to do any of the things I experienced. That's why I'm afraid that I may be struggling against evil "principalities".

I assumed that you had issues with lust because you posted something about looking men in the eye. I don't think the Bible bans women from making eye contact with men.

I want to do my best to make up for the sins in which I have been complicit. And seeing that I have a promiscuous past, I never want to put myself in that situation again. (Looking men in the eye is the first step on that path)

I'm not lustful. In fact, I never have been, at least not since the abuse took place.

Perhaps, the more chaste I am, God will be pleased with me.

Is there any way to know for sure if I am demon-possessed?

My sinful past is one indication that I was not truly saved the first time around, and I've had to become saved again many times since then. I understand repentance, yet I still struggle to stop sinning. Sometimes it gets to the point that I feel as if I'm out of control of my own body. And the immense shame afterward is enough to know that I believe it's not right.

Hi

Once you repent make a public declaration and in time Jesus responds to your request you are translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light you are now legally the property of God, so possession for a christian would technically be trespassing its just when we are tempted in certain areas of our life and give into these desires it can become an addiction and develop into compulsive habits but you are still the property of God you may feel in bondage or bound to repeat the process a million times but it doesn't change the fact that you are still Gods property.

Just because you struggle with different sins at different times doesn't mean that you weren't saved the first time or since then needed to be saved again and again until you are able to resist all sin and temptation, repentance is only one step in the process of demonstrating your sincerity to God and that you are ready and willing to stop and change your behaviour, God is not blind or oblivious to our situations and circumstances he is well aware of our victories and struggles.

Sometimes repentance is all it takes to resist certain sins and to keep on walking with Jesus and other times we need to utilise other blessings and promises in our Fathers word to help us overcome certain sins that are more difficult to resist, especially as you have mentioned spiritually concentrated attacks to specific areas of our lives where we are struggling to overcome these habits and move on.

There are promises in the bible that we are able to claim where Jesus can set us free but thats the easy part, Jesus can kick the enemy out of our lives anytime but for the believer the challenge is being able to maintain your deliverance once you have been set free thats where the trail and tribulation begins and you must consistently take up your cross each day, renew your mind fellowship with healthy Christians and pray for a sister you can confide in when you need help and are feeling vulnerable.

There are Christian support services who are specifically trained in the deliverance ministry that will be able to advice support and help you, hopefully you will have access to counselling and a support team where you are able to chat or when you need advice or guidance.

As for feeling ashamed and embarrassed thats quite natural but it takes honestly and integrity to publicly admit and disclose that you are struggling in different areas of your life and that sounds like the words of a true believer to me, dont judge your self by how many times you have fallen down but rather give thanks to God that he is unconditional compassionate and merciful to his children his ears are always open to there cries and arms always open to embrace them.

I have been out of fellowship for 31 years no excuse i will reap exactly what i have sown but its the goodness of God that leads us to repentance and it is time for me to repent and return to the fold submit and serve the Father.

Peace.

Demonic possession equates to actual loss of physical control, but only to the degree of possession.
Although this is commonly taught throughout Christianity, it's just man made psychobabble and not biblical. It's also a diversion from the actual truth, and leaves demonised people trapped in bondage.

Despite the word "possessed" being found in some translations, your classifications of "oppressed" and "possessed" are not found in the Greek original text.

The Greek original simply means "demonised". And that puts your demon classification system straight in the trash can!

And if you read the scriptures. you will see the solution was to cast the demon "out", an indication that the demon was dwelling within his victim.

Demonic Oppression, however, is without loss of actual autonomy, because it is an external attempt by demonic forces to influence the person to commit to do things that will open the door to possession.

Christians are to resist these forces, and they will flee from Christians; however, none-Christians are without power to resist.
It is standard military tactics that if you can convince your enemy that you are no threat, you have already won the battle. With your help Satan has done this throughout the church, leaving Christians completely subject to demons they are taught cannot touch them.
We are commanded to cast demons out, and to then teach the gospel, and baptize believers for the gift of the Holy Spirit, Who will then occupy the now empty house, and begin His work in that person.
I have cast thousands demons out of Christians for over 40 years, watching them blossom into true spiritual freedom. How many demons have you cast out, believer or unbeliever?
The Holy Spirit, unlike demonic spirits, will not violate a person's God-given autonomy, but will instead, become one with that person, and start to conform them into the image of Christ.

Christians, are by definition, like Christ; and like Christ, they are free from demons.
They become like Christ as more and more demons are driven out. That's why so few Christians are anything like Christ at all!
Oppression and Possession are not synonymous.
Scripture doesn't use those man made definitions. It uses "demonised", and in all cases, the demons are cast out, proving they were indwelling.
It is absurd to think that the Holy Spirit will dwell in the same place a demon does--and even more absurd to think that a demon can occupy the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.
You obviously haven't read the many scriptures showing that Satan or demons came in the presence of God.
Nor the scriptures showing the pagan idols in the temple.
Our human temple has many rooms in it, some very dark indeed. We invite the Holy Spirit in but most people exclude Him from many areas of their lives. It is those areas which remain under demonic influence and need to be cleansed by driving the demons out.
Open your eyes, and turn from this doctrine, and accept the truth, that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty!
If that's the case, why are there so many bound up and tormented Christians on the forum?
Just like the land of Israel, there was never freedom when they let the inhabitants of the land remain in possession instead of driving them out.

The OT entering and possessing the land is the model NT believers should use when they want to fully come into their inheritance. That's why it's in scripture, to teach us to war!

I was once in your shoes growing up. I’ve always believed in God but that didn’t mean I knew who He was. I also had given my life to Christ multiple times mainly because of the same convictions I had within myself. I came to a point in my life where I could never measure up to God’s standards, so why try?
I was very much deceived.

Years passed and I came to a point in my life where I was going to take my life. Even in my darkest hour a light still shone and I reached for it like a life line.
I gave my life fully to God and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour after honest repentance. My life has never been the same since that day.

I’m still not perfect on my own and the only One who does make me perfect is Jesus Christ because of what He did at the cross for all; He also gave us the Hope of a new Way of Life by living the Truth. :yellowheart:
