How can I access God?

Hello I've been in a spiritually depressing place. And I want to access God to know what he thinks and how he could help me. Some people say meditation works, other people say that the Universe sends you signs whenever your curious about something. Well meditation doesnt always work, and heres the worst part about receiving signs they always seem to indicate something negative whenever I receive or ask for them.

I just want to talk to God directly but not sure whether I have access to him. I actually did talk to him in my dreams twice in 2012. But I never heard from him again and I guess I need to talk to him again six years later primarily because I need reassurance when it comes to hope and salvation.

Go to Scripture, read or listen to an audio Bible, and do this in prayer. The clearest and most direct place to hear God is in Scripture, Jesus said His words are Spirit and they are Life. If we hear His word, we hear the Spirit, and the Spirit guides and leads us into the ways of the Lord. Experiences come and go, they will fade and not last, their effect is temporary and the foundations of relativism are easily shaken, especially when trouble is brewing, when the fearsome storms come.

Begin having a discipline in your pursuit of him. I read the bible both night and day according to this word:

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. ~Joshua 1:8

When we immerse ourselves in the word then and only then do we start tuning into who God is. We have to slowly disconnect from the outside world in order to hear what God is saying.

And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. ~Isaiah 30:21

If you're not willing to work at this then you're heart is not in the right place. If we want to hear from God, we need to quiet ourselves and seek him on his terms. If you are willing and obedient then you will receive the reward.

Meditation is good for staying calm and sober-minded but I don't see any reason to interpret it as a religious experience. Some religions of course do that and that's their business but in the end what religion you choose comes down to what you believe about the world, not your experiences necessarily. Your beliefs will shape the interpretations of your experiences as much as the experiences themselves will shape you.

Go somewhere quite and reflect and LISTEN as you pray to go for the wisdom you need.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

God usually doesn't interfere with your dreams and these are usually nonsense.

A true, saved, born again believer always has “access” to God. Jesus is our Great High Priest, Mediator and Intercessor, who is always making intercession for us. So, we can indeed come boldly before the throne of Grace.

Be encouraged that He always hears you and He will never leave you or forsake you, neither will anything separate you from His love.

God’s word is also where we come to know Him and hear from Him.

Hebrews 4:
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Quite simply read the bible. It is His word. Pray the bible to Him. When you move closer to God, He will move closer to you
