Either that, or your interpretation of Genesis is wrong. So basically, those that believe in the evolution theory of an old age of the earth are correcting God in what He instructed mankind for a few thousand years.
Do you believe God has to apologize to all those He deceived into thinking what He said, He meant?
I got that interpretation from reading Genesis and believing what God's Word says... if you feel it is wrong, then I suggest you take it up with God.Either that, or your interpretation of Genesis is wrong.
BTW, the age of the Earth is an issue of geology. It has nothing to do with biological evolution.
So you read ancient Hebrew fluently? You understand the literary conventions and tropes of ancient Hebrew and those of related ANE writing? Your're familiar with the history and archaeology of the region? Good.I got that interpretation from reading Genesis and believing what God's Word says...
No. Each book of the Bible is an independent text and must be evaluated for historicity on its own merits.Tell me, if it's easy to disregard God's explanation of how He created the earth and the creatures on it, is it just as easy to disbelieve other portions of scripture?
And the YECs are helping him by teaching people that if Genesis is not 100% accurate literal history then the rest of the Bible is trash. How do you really know what's truth or what's a fable? Surely, Satan would want you to think you can't believe any of it right? Seems he's doing a bang up job of convincing Christians of that.

That is called the Doctrine of Perspicuity, a novelty primarily limited to YEC sects. The rest of Christendom is not interested in it.Fortunately for us, God does not require us to learn an ancient language to understand the simplicity of His Word.
As it reads? But you have already admitted that you don't read it--except in English translation and without scholarly help. You're deceiving people if you claim to know what it says. That's interesting, because I believe that God's Word is true... ALL of it as it reads... I'm aiding the enemy of souls in deceiving people... interesting argument for arguments sake I guess.

You think that a serious examination of the Bible is the same as questioning God Almighty? No, the Bible is a collection of texts which we regard as divine revelation. As such, it requires all of the scholarly tools and abilities which the community of the faithful can bring to bear on it; linguistic, literary, historical, archaeological, and so on. the Word of God deserves nothing less.I can understand how proud, educated intellectuals might feel their superior need to question God Almighty... myself, I do not.
And after 405 years of "scholastics born on It," what is your conclusion? You think that a serious examination of the Bible is the same as questioning God Almighty? No, not your conclusion ... your (plural) conclusion. My conclusion?
Yes. That is the conclusion of the majority of professed Christians--even those who reject the theory of evolution. After all, they have apparently had the Bible longer than your sect. No, not your conclusion ... your (plural) conclusion.
I assume you personally haven't analyzed the Bible for 405 years.
I'm talking about the collective conclusion of those who have.
Those who have actually gone out in the field with their tools and used sweat equity.
My "sect" is named after John the Baptist: the last of the Old Testament prophets and first New Testament independent fundamental Baptist. After all, they have apparently had the Bible longer than your sect.
You were the one who brought up 405 years. The rest of us have had the Bible since the third century. My "sect" is named after John the Baptist: the last of the Old Testament prophets and first New Testament independent fundamental Baptist.
Sort of reminds me of my son when he will admit to doing stupid things when he was a kid but he is grown up now and much better then what he use to be. Only problem is he is still doing stupid things even though he claims to be all grown up now and much smarter then he was. Science claims they are not doing much better now and they do not make the stupid mistakes that they use to make in the past.Yup.
Vioxx, Rely, etc.
That's why you can't watch TV anymore without seeing a lawyer wanting you to sue for something.
Can you believe scientists used to put lead in paint, lead in gasoline, asbestos in ceilings, and hydrogen in passenger airships?
Marriage complicates everything. Esp when it has to do with the government and paying taxes. It's hard to find a good accountant these days, isn't it?
Maybe that's your problem then? The rest of us have had the Bible since the third century.
