Every politician uses that "fight like hell" phrase. It's only considered literal if Trump uses it.
It's considered literal when his followers obey him and attack the Capitol to hang the Vice President and stop the election from being certified.
It's considered literal when his followers who were arrested for taking part in the insurrection admit that they did it on his orders.

Stuff like that matters.

Did a segment get out of control and riot?
On Trump's orders, they later admitted.
Did Trump make that happen or encouraging rioting or violence?
His followers say he did. They were just following his orders.
No, unlike what the left encouraged for BLM and antifa all the way through 2020, by the way.
I've repeatedly asked people to show where any BLM leader advocated violence. Not one of them has stepped up and done so. We all know why, don't we?

When Maxine Waters and innumerable others did, it was just a figure of speech.
So all you need to do is show that Maxine Waters told her followers to go to the Capitol (or wherevever) and fight like hell, after which they did it.
What do you have?

Neither does anyone else. For reasons we all understand.

ut he did not tell the crowd to "attack" anyone. That is false. In fact, he is on record, both at the speech, and on Twitter three times (that old Twitter/Biden arm removed) as saying to remain peaceful. To make your voices "peacefully and patriotically heard".
His own followers have since admitted that they attacked the Capitol on his orders. He said to go there and fight like hell to stop the election from being certified. They obeyed. Now he wants to pretend that he never said that. He's on video. Who would be dumb enough to believe him?

Everyone watching the crowd organize themselves to come to Washington for the 1/6 "rally" knew something was going to happen. It might have been small and at night and away from the Capitol, or it could have been an even bigger attack. That wasn't clear in the days before, but we knew the PBs were coming (and hiding their identity by not wearing their yellow/black colors). We knew that random morons were planning their trips and talking big on the most extreme of trumpist internet forums. We knew the Q nutters were pumping this up. It was all over the place and extremely agitated. Numerous "leftist" activists warned their followers and members not to come to Washington and give the angriest part of the Trump crowd the fight they were looking for. Instead Trump's angriest fans fought with the police and the attack started while Trump was still talking over a mile away.

Could you rephrase without the code language and state your case clearly? I do not know what "PBs" and "Q nutters" are.

I do know what happened as we watched the entire thing the day it occurred, though snippets were carefully curated to present an agenda. A rally/speech occurred at which Trump said, and I quote, "make your voices peacefully and patriotically heard". What else could we do? We were all stuck at home thanks to the created Covid crisis, thanks to China. I guess we could have played video games or read books.

A couple thousand of the 10-20,000 or so did walk to the Capitol after the speech. Most stood around and then left but a smaller segment climbed up. A window was broken, and some of that smaller segment went inside. Most wandered around taking video and left. A smaller segment still began pushing back and rioting, mostly outside, some inside. All arrested and the building cleared in 3-4 hours. That's what happened.

During that time, Trump posted several times on Twitter to stay peaceful and such things. All taken down by the arm of the Biden administration, old Twitter, later revealed in the Twitter files.

That is what actually happened.

I look forward to the trial of Donald J Trump where evidence and sworn witnesses will challenge narratives such as this....

It won’t matter. Jesus himself could come down and tell them what really happened and they still won’t believe it. Trump has their mind and can do with it what he wants. They are lost to Trump and nothing will bring them back.

It’s a shame this website shreds its Christian witness by aiding in their delusions. One would think a place that apparently cares about bringing people to the truth of Christ Jesus wouldn’t knee cap their mission by allowing lies like this to be spread.

Over 1,200 of the insurgents have already been tried or pleaded guilty and have been sentenced. And the law isn't yet done by a long shot. They keep rounding up more of them. And no, they weren't all arrested. Yet. They just caught another pack of them in Florida recently.

If you know anything about Jan 6th you'd know about all of the "Proud Boys" there. They are a right-wing street gang founded by a Canadian. There were also all kinds of Qanon nutters there. Their message boards and social media feeds were full of discussion about what was to come on Jan 6th.

A couple thousand of the 10-20,000 or so did walk to the Capitol after the speech.
By the time the speech was over, the attack was already on. Proud Boys had already breached several police barriers and cops were already injured.
Most stood around and then left but a smaller segment climbed up. A window was broken, and some of that smaller segment went inside.
Multiple windows were broken and at least 3000 entered the Capitol illegally.
Most wandered around taking video and left. A smaller segment still began pushing back and rioting, mostly outside, some inside. All arrested and the building cleared in 3-4 hours. That's what happened.
Every entry point breach involved violence of some kind, except the one where cops guiding people out didn't ensure that no one entered. No one who was arrested during the riot (while the building was occupied) was kept save a couple and very few were even arrested. The majority of people arrested that day (a couple dozen) were arrested on curfew violations after dark.

During that time, Trump posted several times on Twitter to stay peaceful and such things. All taken down by the arm of the Biden administration, old Twitter, later revealed in the Twitter files.
Except we find out that Trump didn't even post at least the first of those posts.
That is what actually happened.
Not. Even. Close.

That's a fair point...Chuck Schumer's used it in both the topics of police reform and abortion

While I feel that the context was different, semantically speaking, it's a fair criticism.

People need to do better than that if they wish to have a serious/honest conversation about the divisions that exist in the country.

How many of them were insurgents sent by a defeated president, to overthrow the election of the man who fairly beat him? Yes, white supremacists were repeatedly caught killing police, rioting, and vandalizing property. But white supremacists were also caught obeying Trump's orders to fight to stop the election from being certified. Would you like me to show you some of that?

It's why the law was able to catch so many of them. They were openly plotting the insurrection on social media.

They have nothing except 'what about that other thing over there', while ignoring the crimes of a president of the United States.

It's too bad the "intelligence" sections didn't catch the planning and at least better prepare. We got lucky that things weren't just a little bit worse. Things were very close to going very bad.

Yes. There are almost certainly people who were involved in the putsch who have learned from the way this attempt was bungled, and have plans for doing a better job of it next time.
