Thanks for your thoughtfulness Smiling One, maybe sometime I will try that maple syrup idea. Don't worry about supplements, though, as I am the supplements queen!

Well, I did miserably on this fast for quite some time. I would have done great if it had not been for one little thing...temptation! :sigh:

Nevertheless I am starting over. I feel the Lord has told me to go on a 40 d & n fast so I gotta do it. This fast starts today, 40 days before Thanksgiving. This time frame is a real incentive to me. Of course I want to eat with family on Thanksgiving. This is my very last day to fast for 40 d & n until then. And I won't have another chance to fast 40 d & n for the rest of the year, due to the holiday season. Whatever works!

First day & night of restart on fasting just about completed.

Blessed be thou O' Adonai, King of the Universe, and all praise and glory and honor to You that Yeshua's Blood continually cries out to Heaven to You in our behalf, so that we have access into Your Presence, into the Holiness place in the universe and the ability to enter therein boldly.

I've heard that once you get past the first few days, it becomes easier.

Also, a note... When does your fast end? You are going to want to give yourself a few days, before Thanksgiving, to let your body get used to eating again. Start with broth, work up to vegetable soup. Then, VERY SLOWLY add meat.

If you fast until the day before Thanksgiving and then try to eat all the goodies, you WILL throw-up!!! You have to re-introduce food slowly, starting with very simple food, like broth. I don't remember where I heard it, but I heard that if you eat too much, too soon after fasting you could throw your body into shock and die!!!

Please, be very careful?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I was just looking on the internet and found this site. I read some of the pages and it seems to be just the kind on information needed by anyone wanting to fast.

It is a Christian site, I checked that out!!!

Smiling One - Uh oh. You are probably very right about the breaking a fast thing. Will have to think about that one. My fast ends at 3 PM on Thanksgiving. But people don't usually sit down to eat until later in the evening. So...I think I will nibble on some nice
bland things before then. Don't worry I won't be eating meat. The other things I know I have to go lightly on. Really, for life. I know I am to eat healthily.

I really appreciate your kindness and support, Smiling One. Have said a prayer for you and yours. :)

Fourth d & n of fasting going well.

Blessed be thou O Adonai, Creator and Ruler of all that is, seen and unseen, and thank You my Abba in the Name of Your only Begotten Son the Lord Yeshua HaMashiac, that Yeshua is the Lord of the angels, who sends His angels out to bless us and protect us and take charge of us in all our ways.

Franklin - You are very sweet to offer me congratulations after just 3 days. :)

I do appreciate the support. Have said a prayer for you and yours. Have a great week.

That's three days longer than I've ever fasted. :)

Thanks for the prayer... believe me, we need it. ;)

Have made some modifications to the fast. Two & a half years ago, the first time I tried strenuous fasting on mainly fresh squeezed veggies, grapefruit juice & skim milk (also olive oil, vinegar & tons of supplements and water) I did fine for 40 d & n. But I was overweight then, so must have been using stored fat food.

Since then I have noticed that when I tried to fast so strenuously I would get the flu or a URI or something. Even with adding the solid of plain, natural shredded wheat this time, I have gotten a cold, plus lots of low blood sugar symptoms. I have been feeling drained and weak and have had some mental fuzziness. (Almost forgot to put on my make up before I left yesterday. Now that is fuzzy thinking!)

So I have added lima beans and oranges to the fast. I just seem to need them to not feel weak and I know the Lord does not want me to be debilitated or sick.

So, taking those new foods into consideration, I would say that this 6th d & n of fasting has gone well enough.

Blessed be Thou O Adonai, Creator and Ruler of all that is, seen and unseen, and all praise and glory and honor and thanks be to You, my Abba, in the Name of Your only Begotten Son the Lord Yeshua for allowing Him to be our Shield against the world, the flesh and the devil.

Dear Lord Jesus; Please help Amethyst with her fast. She is trying to draw closer to you, Lord, please help her in her endeavor. Give her strength and wisdom and comfort. Show Yourself to her in a special way, Lord. Give her the desires of her heart.

I ask this through Your name, Lord Jesus, amen.

If you do it for too long, yes. There is some good information on fasting at the site I gave Amethyst up above.

Do you have ANYTHING that you can eat or drink that would give your stomach something to think about? So, you don't get too uncomfortable.

JEFF - I have read that fasting site info in the past and found it quite helpful. Anyone can fast for a day and night, but yes I would be careful on overdoing it. Though food fasting is assumed in Isaiah 58 ("the fast that pleases the Lord"), it may have been a one day fast on Yom Kippur that was being referred to. If you read that chapter you will see lots of other areas that seem way more important to the Lord than food and drink.

Also, Daniel fasted for 3 weeks but not water only. He gave up the sweet smelling lotions popular in his culture (equivalent to cologne I guess) and did not eat any meat or wine or "delicacies." Honestly there seems to be a lot of confusion as to what "delicacies" or "food from the king's table" means. My best guess is you can't go wrong with plain, natural veggies or veggie juice., but I do hope you will indeed be careful. Our Heavenly Father wants us nice and healthy.

We aren't Moses or Yeshua, able to go 40 d & n without food and water, that's for sure!

I personally believe our desire to please Him does please Him and that He will lead us more and more as we seek Him and seek Biblical and godly counsel. I will pray for your guidance. :)
