we went to the cookislands via new zeland. it was so wonderfull. we did not have much money as i lost my job 2 months before the wedding. we asked our guests at our engagement party for money rather than gifts as we allready had all our household items. that helped with the honeymoon cost heaps

We had a great honeymoon in London, England. Stayed at the Jolly Hotel St. Ermins and rode the tube a lot and got some really sore feet from all the walking. It was great being overseas, we really felt like we were truly alone. It was so much fun that we went back a year later.

Wow shows you how long I've been at CF...I remember when Dave had the thread announcing his engagement and now he's back from his honeymoon lol. Time flies.

I want to go on a cruise for a honeymoon. That would be fun.
Time flies indeed, I have like 3000 posts now, haha. I need time away from the computer!

I also would like to try a cruise, but for the price I paid to go to mexico, I think I would rather do that again instead. But then again, a cruise sounds like a ton of fun.

Then on Sunday we came home and Monday My hubby jummped back into the truck I went with him for the week. We could have gone anywhere if we would have took my moms deal. Her and my dad offered to pay for the honeymoon to anywhere we wanted adn anythign we wanted if we would have gotten eloped. After my weddign I sometimes think we should have. But now we are savign up for a cruise or somethinbg not sure yet what we will exaclty do. I would liek to go to Jamica or Cayman Islands places liek that but hubby is affraid of flying but I don't care he promised me he would fly at least once so a promise is a promise....lol. We could have gone with all the money we got from our wedding but it made me debt free so we were happy with spendign it that way instead.

Like many here, we were very young and strapped for cash.

We had dinner and one night's stay at a beautiful old-fashioned coaching inn, in a village nearby. When we woke next morning the garden and fields around us were covered with snow.
We sat in the bay window of the restaurant for breakfast, the only guests in the dead of winter!

It's so lovely to see how many of us have enjoyed honeymoons that didn't cost the earth. Young couples now are under such pressure to have the "holiday of a lifetime", and their finances must take a real battering at the start of their married life.

I do dream sometimes of having a more exotic "second honeymoon" when we're older, but at this rate it'll probably have to wait 'til the Golden Wedding anniversary! lol

But really, what we had was so romantic, I don't think we could improve on it.

God bless, Susana

We also only had limited funds and I didn't have the time in at work to take off. After we got married we stayed at a nice hotel for two days and I was back off to work. But thanks be to God and my parents we just got back from The Bahamas, which was our real honeymoon. We are now getting ready to celebrate our one year anniversary, July 20.

my husband and I went to an all-inclusive resort in the Pocono's (in PA) we had to save money for it for months but it was deffinatly worth it. We were just lucky that he was able to get leave from the Navy to go because the week before our wedding they told him he could only have the day of the wedding off but luckily his chief pulled some strings for us. We had the best time so it was all worth it!

We got back from our honeymoon on Saturday night. We weren't even planning on having one as after looking into what we thought would be a cheap option of a week in the Scottish highlands we decided we'd struggle to afford both that and the wedding. The trip we looked into would have taken us to Inverness and to the Eilean Donan castle which was used in the Highlander films. My husband has wanted to visit the castle ever since he saw the films when he was about six years old. It was a dream of his and he remembers pointing at the tv screen and saying "I wanna go there" when watching the film. We of course had told our families of our plans and then had to tell them that we'd decided we couldn't afford it and so we'd save up and book a trip abroad for next year and that would be our honeymoon.

But at the wedding reception his family had a suprise for us. They'd booked our trip to Scotland. They'd all chipped in and paid for tickets and accomodation and all we had to do was pack our bags and get on the train!

It was a marvellous trip. So peaceful and beautiful in the Highlands and we saw plenty of the castle as the bed and breakfast we were staying was no more than 200 metres away and we could see it from our window. So we went in the castle and went on quiet country walks...just the two of us...bliss.
