I didn't say evolution is equivalent to atheism. But evolution definitely helps to foster atheism. While some people in the West may have started to become more humanistic starting with the Renaissance and the 'Enlightenment', atheism did not become widespread until after evolution began to be taught widely in schools and universities.
I wanted to pull this particular claim out and ask for some study that supports it. Can you point me in a direction to some study to verify these claim that atheism became widespread after evolution was started to be taught?

Regardless of the answer, I guess I could equally say that racism, sexism, and oppression have significantly been reduced since evolution has begun being taught. I think I could possibly have as valid a point as you do in saying that it is evolution that showed the errors in racism and sexism and cleared up misconceptions based on theology and arguments such as the hierarchy of being which was based on theology.

My question to all, including but not limited to christians, is this;
Does science really rule out creation? Is there more to truth than theories and methods? I know I may sound very amateur minded, but I humbly ask that anyone who can answer particiate.
My advice if you really want to know the truth regarding God's word on Creation is to stay away from this forum. There are many who post here who show little regard for the plain teaching of Scripture. If you want to be led up the garden path, then hold out your hand. Someone will take it and lead you where you want to go.

I don't think that encouraging someone to avoid the discussion will help much. I have seen nothing but respect in this forum for plain teachings of scripture. It is your interpretation that there seems to be lack of consensus about.

The plain reading is not the correct reading if the passage is not plain. Sometimes, more work is required for understanding.

Your plain teaching = some elses plain error
Someone elses plain teaching = your plain error.

What a conundrum?

so you need God in a sense that he keeps things in existence, but as far as morality goes, he has no say in our lives is your suggestion?

No.

I can't even figure out where you'd get this idea. Society doesn't care what you believe, as long as you're not too disruptive or harmful to your neighbor. Society runs just fine anyway.

Thanks for your input Gluadys. It made a lot of sense.

Inevitably, I think time will come when mankind must face the fact that our lives will not go on forever. Whether scientifically this planet seizes to exist, or Jesus comes back down to earth to claim those who are his, world will eventually come to an end. When I sat down and considered this dilemma, I felt compelled to choose. A choice between serving my purpose for the creator (if I am a designed creation), or continue to live as I have before. But I figure in the end, my own conscience will be a witness either for or against me if I do stand in judgment. and Id be a fool if I said there is no God. Thanks for your time
