  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This makes me angry. There's no excuse for people at church to treat someone like that. Church is the last place where someone should be left out or ignored. We are all sinners, and that's what leads us to Christ...so what's with the snobby attitudes? If you left that church, I don't blame you.
Thank you and God bless.

I can't comment on the homosexuality because rules, but I will say that I find it terrible that you've been excluded and left out by fellow church-goers because of that. I guess that just goes to show that even some of the people who go through all the motions and claim to follow Christ, and probably look down at you because of your sexuality, aren't really all that great after all.

If anything, Jesse is being a better Christian than the other people at his church because he has to deal with a temptation to sin that they don't have to, and he deals with it successfully.

So in conclusion. Christians will be friendly and loving. But they would never offer me friendship outside the church.

Sorry, a little off-topic.

I'm not homosexual, but I'm noticing that in church, too. Most people who are friendly in the church tend to keep friendly relationships exclusively within church grounds: They won't want to hang out, have unscheduled activities together (outside of official church schedules), and generally keep to themselves -- I do know one girl who is exceptionally friendly toward me outside of church, and one guy I'm doing Bible Study with -- but that's it. :/

God bless you, Strathos.

Bless you, too, Jesse! I struggle with the sin of lust (heterosexual), and I find myself falling far more than I'd like. You, my friend, are an encouragement to me! Though I have a very important question, perhaps which can help me with temptation: How do you resist? :)

Hi

That is people born with some inclination towards the same sex.

Does not common sense tell anyone that an infant cant possible have an "inclination" towards "GAY".

C'mon THINK !!

And there is no such discovery of a "gay gene", because there isn't one.

So, the whole defense is a lie, the whole lifestyle is perverted, and the issue is a moral one.

"Well, you can find a gay moose in Nature".

Ok, and you can find a serial killer in nature.

"well, you can find a gay Otter in nature".

Ok, and you can find rapists in nature.

Stop with the "if i can find it in nature, then i have PROOF ITS NATURAL"< as this is a lie...this is a GAY AGENDA con game and you have been conned if you believe it.
Thats a fact.
This "find one in nature somewhere".... is trying to take an exception to prove a rule, and this is fallacy.

Here is the reality.
Sex is designed for continuing the species.
That is why it was created.
So, this defines >normal< sexuality.....PERIOD!!......In that, same gender sex cant reproduce/continue the species, therefore this sexuality is not natural, and legalizing it, does not make it natural., therefore tolerating it does not make you enlightened, it just proves you are a media sheep.

Wake up.

You may not respect me if I told. Most Christians find my reason wrong. I have gotten into arguments with other believers about it.

But I will be honest with you. It's fear of God's wrath that stops me. I am afraid of his coming wrath. I still struggle with lust, so I am not completely innocent. But I am slowly turning away from lust. I don't necessarily lust after people. I just get sexual thoughts.

Yesterday I almost ordered porn on my DVR. But the fear of God's wrath stopped me. So that is what is causing me to resist. Visualizing myself in hell makes sex seem less appealing.

It always comes as a shock when we find that what we were taught was not the total truth and we have derailed a potential convert's path to the Lord. It is strange, when it comes to this subject, I have found that the source of the trouble is fundamentalist pride. I used to be one of them.

You forgot "that'd be great"

The longer my career goes on the less funny that movie is. What is truly terrifying is I don't work in an office and still run into those archetypes on construction sites.

Ah, very interesting. I believe we should be friends! I don't necessarily view myself in Hell, for I know (at least, when I'm not doubting) that Jesus saved me from damnation... I just ask the Holy Spirit to guide me through lust. I talked to my youth pastor today, he asked not that if I gave into temptation, but rather "Are you fighting?" We should all fight our temptations, brother, and should NEVER stop fighting.

Your way of resisting temptation is very interesting, though. :)

Hi

What is the church contemporary view on homosexual people? I am now talking about those who seem to be unable to change even if they wanted to. That is people born with some inclination towards the same sex.

If it is not a choice, is it then okay with the church? Celibacy/ non celibate.

Thx

Mottec

A good Bible college lecturer informed me, that it is not about the inclination, or the manners, way of speaking... but the relationship with Jesus. The latter matters, to him when taking on students. Of course, all must be chaste.

I think Jesus Christ is literally admirable for all. Jesus is worth it in the end.

Love can live in a heart with lust and uncleanness but there is a dispute not agreement. Lust is cunning and is even called love, and looks like love...

Since homosexuality cannot be "promoted" on this forum, and merely presenting exegetical reasons for why you believe it's neither a choice nor a sin can be construed as promotion, then......... it sort of impairs the ability to present other Christian perspectives.

Anyway. If you're curious church's stance on homosexuality you can read a bit about it here:
Marriage Equality - All Saints Church
http://allsaintsatlanta.org/parish-life/affinity-groups/galas/

Adam Hamilton, a United Methodist minister, has some thoughtful reflections on the few scriptures pertaining to homosexuality and consideration of the historical context of them in his book "Making Sense of the Bible."

I don't know what else I'm allowed to write. I have so many friends who are gay, who have been since childhood, and are faithful Christians, but of course there are people on here who'd just invalidate them and me for not repudiating them.
