Better? In who's eyes? Christ died to forgive you of ALL your sins, past, present and future. That means that there is no condemnation through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God doesn't rate you based on how much sin you have committed!!

The only way you would be able to do "better" is if you had your own rating system based on personal justification. I hope you start poring into the bible searching for how much Christ really forgives you.

Definition of cleanse (used to describe how he forgives you)
Katharizo - Greek Lexicon

I believe that what he was saying (correct me if I am wrong) is that he acknowledges that he has done some things that he knows were wrong, and wishes to do better than he had done. He wishes to become a better "him."

If a husband does something that hurts the wife, doesn't he say, "I'm sorry. What I did was wrong. I ask your forgiveness, and I will try to be a better husband"?

Despite education campaigns, “safe sex” initiatives, and hundreds of thousands of tax payers’ dollars going into HIV/AIDS clinics, the practices continue. One of the most recent SMASH reports, issued in January 2000, reports that things have not changed very much.http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=53193385#_edn1 It found in a study of sexual relationships with men over four years that 77.2 per cent were never celibate.[ii] Only 5.3 per cent of male homosexuals over four years never had casual partners.[iii]

Queensland studies reveal similar findings. A 1999 study found that in the precious 6 months, 46 per cent of male homosexuals had 2 to 10 partners, 20 per cent had 11 to 50, and 5.6 per cent had 50 or more sexual partners.[iv]

One of the most recent, and largest, national studies (involving 20,000 Australians) found that 35.3 per cent of homosexuals had 10 to 49 same-sex partners in a lifetime, while 38.2 per cent had 50 or more sexual partners in a lifetime.[v]

Indeed, high rates of multiple partnering continues. As one recent report notes, “The majority of the 2006 respondents had engaged in sex with between one and 10 partners in the six months prior to the survey [over 63 per cent], while almost 20% of the men reported having had sex with more than 10 partners.”[vi]
