I'm just wondering about what the anti-homosexual crowd thinks about the assertion that gay men are as a whole, more promiscuous not because they are gay men but because they are gay men. Straight men would, be they can't, because straight women wont. It's not that being gay makes you more promiscuous, but rather being gay gives you access to partners with similar libidos and as such lack the external check on their sex drives that straight men have in straight women. If this was the case, then being Gay doesn't make you more promiscuous, being a man does, and it's completely natural.

While I won't dismiss the theory- I've heard your idea before. I think there's a lot more promiscuity among straight men and women than will ever be acknowledged. Obviously someone can get an STD without being particularly promiscuous but I think the significant numbers of people with HPV and Herpes in the US testifies to a quite a bit of "playing the field" in general.
As a side note I still find it funny that most people who talk about homosexuality in these threads tend to focus only on male homosexuality. If promiscuity is one of the deep dark sad roads of homosexuality and it's men that are the promiscuous ones.. does that mean lesbians are really okay?

Hmmm, i'm not convinced that anti-homosexuals don't like gays because they are more promiscuous. I'm not even sure if homosexuals are more promiscuous. And as for staight men would be, but they can't... i think you are speaking for yourself there so i'd strongly refute this. Don't they have bars, nightclubs and brothels in Canada?
Edit - also, i think you're barking up the wrong tree implying men have higher libidos than women.

This is what I believe. It makes sense, considering that lesbians are less promiscuous.
When people bash gays for being promiscuous, they really should be bashing men.

To be honest, i think lesbians are cut a bit more slack as it is more pleasing on the eye (in a lot of straight peoples opinion)... I mean, who in there right mind doesn't like lesbian porn?

I believe it's one of those myths. In fact, lesbians are the least promiscuous of heterosexuals and bisexuals. The reason why anti-gay crowd does this is because I think they're looking for another reason to make homoseuxality the worst thing in the world.

A comparison of two population studies of rates of sexual behavior indicates that homosexual and heterosexual rates are quite similar, if not reversed from the stereotype.
When compared side to side it is found heterosexuals are slightly more promiscuous than homosexuals. An early study found heterosexuals has a mean number of 7.3 sexual partners per lifetime and homosexuals had a mean of 4.4 sexual partners per lifetime.

Prior to the AIDS epidemic, a 1978 study found that 75 percent of white, gay males claimed to have had more than 100 lifetime male sex partners: 15 percent claimed 100-249 sex partners; 17 percent claimed 250-499; 15 percent claimed 500- 999; and 28 percent claimed more than 1,000 lifetime male sex partners. Levels of promiscuity subsequently declined, but some observers are concerned that promiscuity is again approaching the levels of the 1970s. The medical consequence of this promiscuity is that gays have a greatly increased likelihood of contracting HIV/AIDS, syphilis and other STDs.
Similar extremes of promiscuity have not been documented among lesbians. However, an Australian study found that 93 percent of lesbians reported having had sex with men, and lesbians were 4.5 times more likely than heterosexual women to have had more than 50 lifetime male sex partners.
It would appear gay promiscuity may be a consequence of two high libidos getting together as opposed to a high libido (male) being kept in check by lower libido (female).
