I suspect this thread was not about sentencing laws for child molesters in general, but rather was meant to point out how gay people are pedophiles ... or that they get off lighter in court. I'm sure indigo10 will correct me if I'm wrong.

I happen to think that it is relavent. It isn't often that you'll find openly gay men that are pedophiles.

Back on one of my old web haunts we ran an unscientific study that tallied the number of men that molested boys by two categories:

Those that were openly gay vs. those that were either married, in heterosexual relationships, or claimed to be straight.

The final tally was 3 to 100 (the person running the tally finally got tired of it). About 30 of the second category were ministers, church leaders, or youth group leaders.

So, whenever I see a news article that says this, I'm not surprised because gay people aren't perfect, but I know that it's the exception to the rule. Granted, ours was an unscientific study, but the bias was so pronounced that I seriously doubt that the results were in error.
