Having sex, practically having sex, things I really don't want to see.

Also, maybe at yours. I live in California and I see no such thing. My friend who just got into college last year has seen no such thing. So either promiscuous homosexuals are really intelligent, or promiscuous heterosexuals are really stupid. I highly doubt either one.

Thing is, heterosexuality is nothing to make a big deal about so it's not that it doesn't happen as often, it's just that they don't care. Or even condone it. Last year a girl was raped in a bathroom and she got a small two inch square in the newspaper.

I have to agree with Zac on this. Every college campus has Gay bathroom sex. It is what it is.

I think the reality of this story is: That we have a Republican here that consistently voted against gay rights and gay marriage, but in reality he was a closted gay male, who chose to marry and live his life as a lie. He was thus relegated to fulfilling his emotional sexual needs in a filthy airport bathroom.
Bingo. You are exactly right. And this is far from the first time that Larry Craig has been accused of hitting on men. Here is a link to a very detailed story from his home state. I recommend reading this.

In my view, there are several layers of immorality here. The first layer is that he hit on a man in a public bathroom, which is at the very least tacky. The second layer is that he is married and he hit on a man in a public bathroom, which makes this act of infidelity. The third layer is that he is a U.S. Senator who is married, and he hit on a man in a public bathroom, which makes this an act of infidelity by an elected leader. The fourth layer is that he is a "family values" Republican U.S. Senator who has voted against gay rights measures, and he is a married man who hit on an man in a public bathroom. That makes this an act of hypocrisy and betrayal of the public trust. The fifth layer is that he has long denied claims and rumors that he has hit on men in public places in the past, which makes this an act that took place in a context of repeated offenses and repeated lies about those offenses. That makes this part of a pattern of immoral acts.

I think it's the hypocrisy and the betrayal of the public trust that stinks the worst, though his wife is probably more upset over the infidelity. Or maybe she is used to it and has come to accept it. We don't know.

How have I claimed it anymore than you have claimed what you think they are not doing?

You only know what your gay male friends choose to tell ya. Like they would tell you if they were going to a bathhouse.

Well it's nice that you believe that but there are just as many gay folks in "long-term, committed relationships" who believe that the open -relationship is the reason they have committed and built a life together for a long time.

Why should your idea of morality be accepted? Don't they get to decide if their relationship and how it's set up is moral for them?
A bath house is not the same as a bathroom.

What do you guys think of this story? Is there an arbitrary line in the sand about what is moral and what is not?

http://www.startribune.com/587/story/1386023.html

I know you're a Republican and I'm a Democrat; and you're a conservative and I'm a liberal; and you're an evangelical and I'm a liberal Christian — so given those parameters...

...I'd have to wonder what would possess ANYBODY, especially someone in a highly visible, respected position, to go into a bathroom and do something like that!

1) Who, gay or straight, wants to see people having sex in a public restroom? I don't. I don't know any straight or gay people who want to see that, either.
2) Even if there are no cops in there, someone is likely to report those kinds of goings-on.
3) Given that he's in an extremely visible public office, if he were to get arrested it's going to be all over the news (which it is).
4) That's a really, REALLY good way to get arrested and to have one's career ruined!

I'm not so partisan as to be happy because he's a Republican and "we got rid of another one"; and I think it's probably safe to say he's ruined his career and most likely his marriage and I'm certainly not happy for that; and if the Senator is gay, his own self-respect demands that he come to terms with that and part of his responsibilities to his constituents is that he be honest with them (which he wasn't).

So, no — I wasn't happy that Mark Foley torpedoed his career; and I wasn't happy that David Vitter had been exposed for consorting with prostitutes; and I'm not happy that Larry Craig has ruined his career (and probably his marriage) by doing something this stupid!

I agree with the arresting officer: "Embarrassing. Embarrassing..." Not that Larry Craig got caught — but rather that a U.S. Senator even did such a stupid thing!

And here I am — boringly monogamous, gay male with the same partner for 17 years — and like my other boringly monogamous, gay male friends who've been living with their partners for anywhere from 10 to 55 years we really can't imagine wanting to live with someone else; and supposedly we're the ones bringing down Western civilization.

All of this could have been avoided had Senator Craig had the moral integrity to admit to himself that he was gay, and not to drag his wife into this by marrying her as a cover (which I think is just despicable!); and if he couldn't do that much, at least he could have had the personal integrity not to have sex in public places.

Instead, he lied to himself, lied to his wife, lied to the police, lied to his constituents, lied to Congress, lied to the media, and tried to whitewash the entire thing under the paint of "family values" — and in doing so, became the consummate hypocrite.

I hope the anticipation of getting a bathroom quickie was worth it to Senator Craig.

Do what more? Have sex in public bathrooms?

If you're at a college/university, there is indeed a bathroom spot on campus where gay activity is taking place.

There's one on EVERY campus. Just because they aven't been caught doesn't mean it's not going on.

Well — that sounds like a good reason to blame every single gay person for the activity of a very few.

It's sort of like saying that every father is a perp because a few fathers have sex with their daughters or their daughters' friends.

I'm actually an Independent.

...I'd have to wonder what would possess ANYBODY, especially someone in a highly visible, respected position, to go into a bathroom and do something like that!

But it actually makes some sense. You're a well known married politician who is sexually attracted to men. Given the choice of hiring a male prostitute or setting up a "gay meeting" and possibly leaving a trail and getting caught, or getting to engage in the type of sex that you really want to anonymously with no strings attached and no one to see you and identify who you are.

This seems pretty ideal for his situation.

But this happens all the time all over the place and people will either report it and the cops will check it ofr that one timeand then not bother with it again until someone else complains.

This is not new behavior. folks have been doing this for years. The same thing takes place in wooded park areas.

We use to have trails out around Piedmont Park in Atlanta where you just didn't go because you knew what was going on out there.

I'm just surprised that more folks didn't know about this behavior because asI watch the news on this, so many folks are completely shocked.

I remember talking about this very thing 20 years ago in college.

I think he has probably successfully done this bathroom things several times in the past and never had any reason to think that he would get caught or that anyone would even be watching for such behavior.

Thus, this behavior presented the perfect opportunity for him to get what he wanted without having to lose his family and career.
