If you understood what I posted to mean you receive only a part of the Holy Spirit I am sorry. What I said is you receive the Holy Spirit. However you have not been filled completely so that you are able to walk the walk in the total power of the Holy Spirit.
I understood what you meant, and at one time I also agreed with that position, but no longer do. I like my present view better because it answers more of the disagreements I run into with those who are both fundamental and pentecostal.
Many receive the Holy Spirit but they do not all walk in His Power. Why? Because they do not allow Him to totally fill them and guide them.
I don't think that one receives the Holy Spirit at re-birth. I think your unholy spirit becomes holy upon being 'born from above'. At that point
"our spirit bears witness with the Holy Spirit" and
our spirit is the equivalent of the 'spirit' that Jesus was born with...which wasn't the Holy Spirit, it was His perfect human spirit. That spirit is the same spirit he gave up on the cross. And that spirit has the power to allow one to walk in righteousness, just like Jesus did. But He never had the power to perform the miracles until after He received the Holy Spirit. And according to scripture He didn't receive the Holy Spirit until He was 30 when it descended upon Him as a Dove. And that's when the Holy Spirit miracles began.
Doubts come from satan and if you or anyone has doubts about their salvation then the filling of the Holy Spirit is not complete.
We are just going to have to disagree with this statement of yours. I know of no biblical basis for it.
By the way have you walked in many of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Every gift but one...interpreting a tongue in a group setting anyway. But I do believe that I have interpreted my spirit's prayer tongue before.
I have been used in many of them and continue to seek His filling so I can be used in all of them.
If you have access to the Holy Spirit, you have access to all His gifts. You can't earn them they are given as
"he inspires and wills to give them"...not as we 'earn' them in my opinion.
The only miracles in healing I have not been allowed to be a part of is the sight given to a blind man who was born with no eye balls.
That is a wonderful testimony brother.
If I sound sure of my theology that is because of the many miracles that He has allowed me to see and be used in them.
And my God has worked with 'my theology' too. But I don't believe that proves it's right. I know many who are very sure of their theology...and they don't even believe the gifts are still available. Personally I think that the supernatural gifts are more dependent upon being
"led of the Spirit" in a situation and then having the "
faith" to move in that 'leading of the Spirit' for a manifestation of the gift to take place.
I only post here to try and make those who have doubts to seek assurance from God through Jesus the Christ and in the Power of the Holy Spirit.
A very worthy goal, to be sure. My personal experience though has been that most here are like concrete in their theology...'all mixed up and very hard to change'.
Seldom have I seen someone change their mind here IMO.
God's blessing and mine to all who seek the truth and a deep relationship with the true God.
