So I have a question. How can one do anything if they don't understand what they're being told to do?

They can do it the way they think they understand it, probably get portions of it incorrect, and learn from those portions more about how to do it right the next time.

Sometimes the understanding comes from the doing; in obeying/doing the commands of Christ.

(Learning by doing is a human way of learning - including math ;))
:)
That brings to mind this famouse discours by Jesus in John 14, where 3 of the Apostles were trying to understand Him

John 14:5 Thomas is saying to Him "Lord! not we are aware the-where Thou are going away, and how are able the way being aware?".

John 14:8 Phillip is saying to Him "Lord! show! to us the Father and is being sufficient to us".

John 14:22 Judas, [not the Iscarot] is saying to Him "Lord, what has become that to us Thou are being about to be showing Thyself and not to the world".

It is interesting if one looks back to the Greek. him that doeth is from a word meaning procduces bears fruit. So him that bears fruit of righteousness is righteous.

I'm going to just try to stay away from all that evil and try to do all that is good. And pray for Gods help.

That is all any of us can do :o

I also recommend checking various bible versions for the use of the word "evil" tho

Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon

Blue Letter Bible - Search Results for YLT
"evil"
occurs 872 times in 811 verses in the YLT

Last time used in Bible YLT:

Young) Revelation 17:3 and he carried me away to a wilderness in the Spirit, and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet-coloured beast, full of names of evil-speaking, having seven heads and ten horns,

Blue Letter Bible - Search Results for KJV
"evil"
occurs 613 times in 569 verses in the KJV

Last time used in Bible KJV:

KJV) Revelation 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

And as this wise one once said:

False prophets in Daniel in the Bible. Revived Roman Empire, Beast of the Apocalypse of Mark, and Antiochus the Selucid Greek

.......As I have noticed while comparing translations of different verses in the Bible, even the most literal translations can suddenly depart from literalism, perhaps visit the Greek Septuagint and abandon the Hebrew translation for a single verse, whenever some highly cherished doctrine might be threatened by a truly literal translation.

Rule of thumb : you should never, ever rely exclusively on one single translation.)

....been meditating on this.....seems that "holiness" involves "fearing" God. (Actually, "fearing God" would be a good study as well, since holiness and fearing God goes hand-in-hand)
:)

Do you fear God
The fear of God includes putting aside what we think and want as well as what others think and going with what Yahweh wants. Afterall, we won't listen to Him if we think our opinions are more important than His. Our lives are so much better when we commit to His opinions and ways because it's the beginning of real wisdom.

NO! I'm not scared of God. I do have a healthy respect for and of Him though. And that is exactly what the word fear means in Mat 10:28. The word fear is used in 2 ways in the verse.

It took me a while, but "fearing" God is not what i first thought it was....it's worth a study....i'm gonna go check out LLOJ's link on it now. :)

Holy is the way God is. To be holy he does not conform to a standard. He is that standard. He is absolutely holy with an infinite, incomprehensible fullness of purity that is incapable of being other than it is. Because he is holy, all his attributes are holy; that is, whatever we think of as belonging to God must be thought of as holy. ~A.W. Tozer

[because of "language", I can't post the utube for that scene, but u can find it on google.
It even shows the twin towers in that scene :)]
