Hi,
I'm just wondering what you guys and girls think of holding hands (esp in public) and why. It seems like girls in general have a greater desire to do that and that guys not as much. Why do you think that is? Is this true of your experience as well as it has been of mine? What about it makes it enjoyable for women and not as important for men? Why would there be that difference? Do you think that difference should be there?

Please let me know your thoughts.

I love holding hands, not that i've had a lot of hands ot hold, but the guy i was dating-- oh my, it just made my heart flutter when he held my hand. It was just a sweet gesture of closeness and affection w/o getting too physical or tempting.

i totally agree with that last sentence! that's exactly how i feel. holding hands, although not always convenient, is just nice to do to show that you care for the other without being all over each other. as for wondering why girls like it more than guys...umm...i'd say its just cause girls love "sweet" things and are usually a little more affectionate than guys. it just makes our hearts happy

I have enjoyed holding hands in public (once I got over my fear of guys). I agree with the first poster - it's just a simple thing that allows you to be close, but not too close to your significant other.

Not to sound like a sap but i think its one of the ways to show commitment and physical attention without drawing too much attention to yourself and without all of the temptation that is out there to do the wrong thing.

Holding someone's hand is an incredible thing - a great gift of warmth, closeness, and trust from them. Someone can say all sorts of things, but if they will hold your hand you can feel their soul.

I can thikn of nothing that is "cuter" in my eyes than seeing a couple that has been married for over 50 years and they still hold hand in public like school kids. Just cause yer old in years doesn't meen that you have to be in your heart.

I personally have no qualms with holding hands. I suppose that it is one of the 'clean' public displays of affection but I really don't care about that part. I see it as a way of showing your significant other how much you care for them and also showing how you are not afraid to show that affection in front of persons close to you such as family and friends.

I'm not a huggy-touchy-feely person, so I'm not much of a hand holder (at least not consistently). I agree that it's touching to see a couple that's been married for many years still holding hands though.

I have enjoyed holding hands. I think it's definately a good thing and a safe way to show affection for all places. It's just a kind and endearing way to show you care.

My parents, married 53 years, still hold hands in public--maybe you've seen them I've always found this to be very endearing and long to have someone to hold my hand as well.

My last boyfriend wasn't one for any PDA's, but he always would grab my hand whenever we went out to eat when we prayed. I always felt so safe when he held my hand. He was such a good spiritual leader and his hands were so much bigger than mine.

Holding hands is cool apart from what other people have said it also gives a sense of security.
