Anyone have a hobby besides visiting here?

It might be good to get to know peole for something other than their theology. So post pictures, put descriptions etc!

And perhaps when we are done we can get some new hobby ideas.

I tell my members they all need a hobby so they can meet non-Christians. And if they can't find one, we will help them!

I would love to learn to knit. I had started to learn to crochet but I don't know what derailed that. Wait, maybe it was my lack of coordination and attention to detail.
I love gardening. I volunteer at my son's school and last week we planted bulbs etc for spring blooming. Will see how badly I messed up when the colors come out, as I know I lost track somewhere there a few times. LOL
Also, I love interior designing. I do that for my home and friends and family, but who knows what may happen in the future? I just may get paid for some of my ideas.

(Lots of "I's" in the above, but hey ... :D )

Since I was young I used to dabble in drawing. It was not until later that I started to feel like I knew a bit what I was doing. But it was the computer that really helped my hobby along. I paint on the computer with a graphics tablet and Corel Painter, or Corel photopaint (like photoshop). It is something to do that takes my mind from studying etc. I kind of do it in spurts.

Here are some works:

I'm an avid reader.

I love reading my bible...aloud. Nothing sounds more beautiful to my ears than the KJV. (NIV is like nails on a chalkboard to me...that's how much I love the KJV)

Old movies. Humphrey Bogart, Tyrone Power, Betty Grable, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford. I must have watched Gone with the Wind 50 times by now, and I will watch it again. The beautiful dresses of that era, take my breath away (as did the corsettes they wore, I'm sure). When my daughter turned 13 I let her watch it with me, and she was hooked immediately as well. They don't make movies like that anymore. I love all of the old classics, I prefer them in black and white as well.

Teaching...I have found a new love, a spiritual gift I had no idea I had the talent for. I love spending time with kids.

That's about it.

Thanks. The wifey can post hers too. She has an art degree :)

I am working on people too, right now just figure practice and portrait practice. I have some Christian ones in mind for the future. But I want to get more practice in before trying scenes that are too ambitious.

Well I recently taught a drawing class as a way to meet non-church folks, and it was quite fun. People can learn to draw I believe. If you want the lessons let me know I can perhaps find a place to put them on here. (Of course, I am not sure it will help with repetitive motion problems!)

It looks like we have a lot of writers too.

What kind of book are you working on?

The name of my book is "She Said. False Allegations of Sexual Abuse: The 21st Century Vendetta." (I know, I know, it's the longest title in da world).

It goes into the abuses of Social Services in our country and false allegations in a divorce/custody battle. You wouldn't believe the stories of abuse I've heard while I've been writing this book...abuse from a government-funded agency that is supposed to protect our children.

I'd love to take your art courses. One question though...will it cut into my chat time?

Wow, no small topic.

Of course...the title...that would be positively anemic back in the old days!

check out this title for one of the first Adventist Hymnals:

"Hymns and Tunes for God's Peculiar People who Keep the Commandments of God and Have the Testimony of Jesus. "

They eventually cut it down to "Hymns and Tunes."

Donation from a nice person :)

Now if I only knew what to do with them. I think I will give some to the wifey for that bigger halo she was wanting. Other than that, I have no clue.

When it comes to art I am hopeless. Stick figures are my limit.

I do have some hobbies, I like growing vegies. That is when we have enough water.

Also like to play with the kids. My two eldest kids are very athletic. So they keep me on my toes. They have left home and are left with only the two youbg ones. This afternoon after Church my young girl wanted to go for a bike ride. I followed her in the car for about 7 kms and she really enjoyed that. She has Achondroplasia (click here for more info about that disability) so for her to ride that distance is a very good effort.

I like to tinker around with difficult engeering solutions. Next door came over a few months ago with his tractor and slasher that was going no where. He was low on money and asked if I could repair it. I was able to replace much of the slasher frame with new metal.

They are hobbies that I enjoy doing.

These days I am much more involved in my local church than I used to be. It is another hobbie that I like to get involved with.

How can I go past being involved with internet forums. Have a wife to look after as well so not too much free time.

During the last 20 years or so I have been president of different sporting clubs, keeps me busy.

I like to keep fit and active and although well on the wrong side of 50 I am still training as hard as my body will allow me considering that last year I received a new hip. When younger I used to run anything up to 50 miles a week. It is a great hobbie or past time.

You can bank some of them -- see blue button at top of screen, third row, fourth button in, and gain 1% interest each week. And I tend to be liberal with my blessings as well. I like giving newbies some to jumpstart their piggybank.

i like to cook. i like to do ceramics also. but the only place around here closed a couple years ago. i like to do the whole thing, from finding the greenware, to cleaning it up and the painting, firing, glazing, and then the final firing. they do have places around here, that you can go and paint it ( it has already been cleaned and fired) and then they will do the final firing. i havent been there, but i have thought about it. besides that, i dont know what else. since i am a housewife, i spend most of my time cleaning. but i wouldnt call that a hobby. haha in years past, i played 4 instruments and was very involved in the theatre. i am an international thespian. but i havent done that in many years. i do miss my instruments though. i still have my clarinet, and i break it out sometimes, but i would really like to get a french horn and start playing it again. i really like that instrument.
