Spyder_God,

In order to help you more clearly see God and who He is and what His plan is you must have a basic understanding of some of His characteristics.

First you must know that He is infinite. This does not mean we can not know Him, but that His virtues are inexhaustable. They are absolute.

Let's take the virtue of Justice. He is an absolute and Just God. This means that those who are guilty of sin are to be punished. Absolute Justice requires that every sin must be punished. Unfortunately for us, we are unable to avoid sin. We all deserve the infinite Just of God.

On the other hand, we know that God has infinite Mercy. Mercy is the ability to forgive sin. His mercy and forgiveness is inexhaustable as well.

So we are faced with what might appear to be conficting virtues of God. How can absolute Justice and absolute Mercy exist within the same God. If all must be punished how can He show Mercy? If He shows Mercy how can He be Just?

The remedy for the Situation was the Incarnation of Christ, who is God, who while still God, took on our humanity. In this Person of Christ was united the infinite power of God with our humanity. Through His humaness he took on the sin of the whole world, every single sin ever committed fro the beginning to the end of time. Since He was also God, He had an infinite capacity to suffer and recieve the justice that was due us for our sin. This is what makes it possible for us to be justified in the eyes of God. He gave us the gift of His Son, to suffer and die for us. The ultimate act of Love.

Having come to that realization, we as Christians must repent of those sins that required Christ to suffer and die in our place. We must also turn from that sin and live a life of gratitude, grace and thanksgiving for what Christ has done for us.

I hope that made sense. Let me know If I need to clarify anything.

Peace

BTW I'm Catholic

do you believe that when we stand before the judgement throne of God, Christ will stand before us, justifying us of our sins by faith??
Let me answer your question by asking you this; if we have faith, yet we still allow ourselves to sin, what does that say about our faith? With real faith, comes a natural desire to live without sin. The bible tells us we can jude a man by his works, and if a man says he is saved yet he continues to embrace his old sinfull way of life, then I would question his faith. His works are not reflecting a sincere heart to follow Christ. Indifference and sloth are what most people fall into, and Christ told us Himself that He would rather us be either hot or cold; the lukewarm people He would rather spit out of His mouth. What does He mean by lukewarn people? He means people who speak but don't back up their words with action; people who say they have faith yet have done nothing about it; they have not produced any good fruits..and a tree without good fruits is a dead tree.

Anyway, sorry again for the long reply. I can get carried away in my posts sometimes. :)

Metanoia I'm not exactly sure of what you fully meant but I think I got the majority of it. However, I think I'll have to hit that road before it fully becomes something I can accept. I know it seems like that is something that is necessary before one can actually accept god/christ into their life, but there are alterations that have to be made before that can be processed and accepted with a personal meaning (essentially I just need to give the wheels some time to spin before that will be accepted).

May understanding be quick and well... swift for life goes on.

Well I've been reading more of the bible, I'm still in the Old Testament as I have classes and I don't always get to read the book every day. However, I can honestly say that people definitely lived a long time back then or was it that the days were a lot shorter? Could I have an opinion on this please. What one person thinks can easily become diluted when the only medium to test it against are preconceived notions with absolutely no idea of what it should honestly be compared to in life.

exactly!
Jesus said the gate is narrow and not many get in. He also said in the end times many will come to him saying they preached in his name and cast out demons in his name, and he will say to them "get away from me you evildoers" . Another thing it says is that those in Christ can not sin, so I believe it is possible
