  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi guys, just wondering if the Kitchen Sink was the place to post history discussion threads? I’m just studying Himmler and his complex attitudes towards Christianity and thought CF would be a great place to maybe get some other history buffs opinions, but I’m not sure which the appropriate sub forum would be? Any advice?

Hi Kentonio

The History & Genealogy Forum might be a better place.

That must be why my super awesome exciting thread about the convoluted political and religious affairs of a bygone era didn’t get any replies. And there was me expecting it to be a smash hit..

I’m a history buff and know a little about Germany during that time period. Not too familiar with Heinrich though.

Other than the basics…

I’ve spent far more time than is healthy on that period and on the nazi buildup but to be honest he was pretty much an enigma to me too until I started reading this biography of his. His early life is pretty fascinating, seems like a pretty classic precocious highly intelligent under-achiever who got caught up in a situation that allowed him to actually act on his rapidly evolving intellectual beliefs and it quickly spiraled out of control.

There’s a quote about one of the kids who went to school with him and knew him as a fairly awkward kid without a lot of friends but kind of ok being totally freaked when after the war he was told the SS-Reichsfuhrer had been THAT Heinrich Himmler. Apparently he absolutely refused to believe it at first.
