Hissing

K what does it mean if I when i went down to pray I started Hissing not like a snake but kinda like vicious animal like. It seemed bad but if i tried i could stop sort of and i tried to pray normal and i could kinda but it was hard and broken:/ Will it just go away? Is it cause of bad stuff in me or is it a bad spirit? How can i tell?

Hopefully you have elders in your church that are knowledgeable in this area. There may also be someone with the gift of discerning spirits. They should be made aware of the situation so they can observe the next time you begin to pray during a service. It may be spiritual. It may be mental (mind or physical root). It should not be assumed that it is always spiritual. If the elders and the one with the gift agree that it is spiritual... then follow their recommendations. If they do not get a spiritual witness that the problem is spiritual you may want to seek psychiatric help and/or prayer (for healing).

Rest assured that Jesus has the victory over all things: spiritual, mental or physical.

That sounds like a pretty good plan cept the psychiatric help if it is a metal problem I know that jesus can fix it ten times better than those pshycos. I don't know if our church has elders but i will go up for prayer next sunday. problem is I have trouble praying with lots of people around i am usually pretty quite and just pray when God is there. A month ago about i got the impulse that i needed to find someone with the gift of diserning spirits and so I asked mike but I couldn't really get the response i was looking for:/

Hey, man, there are spirits everywhere, that can attack you and make you look like an idiot, even in church at the altar i have seen very bad spirits. Pray the whole armor of God everyday and before you go to church, cover yourself with the blood of Jesus and the church, the sermon the pastor and everybody in the church. Bind all harm all evil and every devil away from you the church the pastor the sermon the people in Jesus name. Then loose Gods Holy Spirit and Gods ministering spirits on earth for you the church the pastor the sermon the people to deliver you from all harm all evil and every devil in Jesus mighty name . Sweet i think i am back to normal. Praise God

At first after the hissing stoped i just felt really crappy and didn't have the spirit but then i started praying that Jesus prayer cause it is simple and doesn't seem to take a great deal of Spirit of effort to pray and the Jesus came and helped me up again

I wonder how many people hissed, barked, meowed, growled, or otherwise made animal sounds only after the Charismatic church demonstrated it to them. I think some of this nonsense in the Charismatic congregations with the animal sounds is due to the power of suggestion.

I had never hear of this before. I am sorry but it had never been suggested. Not in practice in these boards or ever. In fact i am not actually sure that they do make sounds cause in the bible it says in the tongues of men and angels.

Just for reference, animal sounds aren't a typical vineyard thing... I'm not sure where you live so I don't know what Vineyard you're near, but it certainly doesn't happen at mine (or most others...)
"Animal Sounds" kinda had their start at the 'Toronto Blessing'... And for the most part (judging by the information I've seen... which has come out of the church - TACF - itself), the animal sounds were not really just making sounds for the sake of making sounds, but they were part of a prophecy that was being recieved at the time... for instance, people roared like lions when prophesying things about God being the 'Lion of Judah' and 'He will roar from his holy mountain'... I also read about a woman who crowed like a rooster because of what God was doing in her... it was symbolic of the fact that it was the dawn of a new day in her life...
I'm not thinkin' the hissing is something like that, though... (Back to the OP...) Not that its much to worry about... all you have to do is remind satan that as a believer in Christ, he has no authority over you, and tell him to stop being such a pain in the butt... You don't need any long, pre-written 'formula' prayers or anything... just tell him to stop... not a big deal

It may not be evil spirits at all. I think it is probably groupthink (my current favorite buzzword) mentality rearing its nasty head. You probably spread your wings in an emotionally charged service and acted foolishly – and now seem, justifiably, to have regrets. You were swept up in the emotions of the moment. But it was just emotions. Never confuse it with the Holy Spirit and don’t put the blame on evil spirits. It was an act of the will, prompted by emotions and not good sense.

At Toronto, during the so-called “Blessing”, this behavior would have probably been perfectly acceptable. Reputable reports are that people during the “Blessing” did a lot more than laugh like hyenas – some barked like dogs or snorted like pigs, and all, I suppose, “for the glory of God.” When a group sanctifies, even promotes, weird behavior for the sake of weirdness this sort of stuff happens. If it is your cup of tea, drink it.

If it’s not, you might want to worship somewhere else.

Jim...I gotta say, I appreciate your sensibleness. I wish more of the folks in the charismatic churches would be as sensible. I have many friends that started a large church in our area and they are out there on the edge in the signs and wonders stuff. It has really turned me off to charismatic things to the point where I look at every "manifiestation" with a jaundiced eye. Likely if I went to your church I might have a different attitude.

For those of you that really don't know about these things take a look at these video clips of people acting drunk, making chicken sounds etc...all in the name of glorifying the Father. Check out the first one especially...it is from the "toronto blessing"
