For those of you that really don't know about these things take a look at these video clips of people acting drunk, making chicken sounds etc...all in the name of glorifying the Father. Check out the first one especially...it is from the "toronto blessing"

Ugh! Don't even get me started on that site... I swear, "www.bible.ca" has absolutely nothing good to say about anyone who doesn't comply entirely with their skewed view of 'correct theology'... "Catholics are evil!" "Seventh-Day Adventists (and other sabbath-keepers) are evil!" "The rapure is a false doctrine and it is a lie of the enemy!" "Calvinism is wrong! Predestination is evil!" "Mormons & JW's are evil!" "The entirety of the modern Pentecostal/Charismatic movement is a tool of satan to deceieve you all! Stay away from them!!!" "Give us you're address so we can send you free bible studies in the mail so that you can examine our narrow-minded point of view in a format created to look correct, sot that you will find your way to the truth (aka thinking exactly the same way we do...)!"
They have their 'doctrine' down and they know it like the back of their hands, but judging from the 'fruit' of their faith, I would say they haven't gotten to know Christ himself all that well... I don't see a spot of Godly love anywhere on that site... they can't even manage to lovingly attempt to either correct in a respectful way or agree to disagree... they have to mock and make fun of, and blow everything they can find as far out of porportion as they possibly can... to be quite honest, it disgusts me... That was one of the sites I came across while making my 'exodus' from seventh-day adventism... I gleaned very little useful information from it... certainly not enough to make it worth all the hateful junk that I got put into my mind by going there... most of their 'points' aren't rooted in logic, nor do they make sense as a reason to dismiss an entire system, or even a miniscule point, of theology... they're just rooted in hatred and bitterness and other things that I wouldn't at all consider "Godly"...
I would probably go on longer, but I won't as I would just end up stating and restating the same things over and over again... plus I've gotta get to algebra in two minutes! yikes!

Jim...I gotta say, I appreciate your sensibleness. I wish more of the folks in the charismatic churches would be as sensible. I have many friends that started a large church in our area and they are out there on the edge in the signs and wonders stuff. It has really turned me off to charismatic things to the point where I look at every "manifiestation" with a jaundiced eye. Likely if I went to your church I might have a different attitude.

I have checked out this website and have to admit, whoever sponsors it has the goods on the fanatic fringe of the P/C movement. The site not only embarrasses me but it breaks my heart that so many dear friends of mine get swept up in this sort of learned, programmed (and yes, groupthink) behavior, little of which can be supported by scripture, and most of which earns us the distrust of the very people we are trying to influence. Our self-appointed (and self-anointed) "leaders” provide all the ammunition our critics could ever want and cheapen the gospel the Apostles gave their lives for.

I wonder what God thinks when this sort of idiocy is blamed on Him?

Actually, I tend you agree with you on the gist of the site.

HOWEVER, these are video clips of real behavior in real meetings by real people. They speak for themselves, you don't need to read the rest of the site understand what is happening.

It wouldn't make any difference if these clips were on an AIG site.

Perhaps for me the most telling is the Peter Popof clip. This is one where the televangelist is a known fraud. His wife is telling him through the radio reciever in his ear about the people he is going to "heal". He goes up and lays hands on the man and tells him he is healed and the man "collapses under the power". Now, why did the man collapse? I suppose it could be Jim's "groupthink", but I kind of think it was an actual physical phenomenon that happened to the man. He was so convinced that God was healing him that when he felt Peter Popof's hand on his head he went down. I guess it is one or the other!

Oh........my............ I don't even know what to say. I'm in awe. Some of that stuff sounds really evil and I can't believe what I HEARD Benny Hinn say!!! I don't know what to think about them now. I think I need to quit listening to Benny Hinn and the others for a while. This really turns my life upside down. Thanks JVD for posting that.

About my last post: I've always took up for Benny Hinn but always had questions and confusion. Now that I've heard what I've heard, I don't think I'm gonna take up for him anymore. I'm kinda confused about the preachers on tv right now.

Anyways, some of you say it isn't a demon. ....and say why must it always be a demon? Well, if you haven't been through obvious demonic activity in your life than you're lucky. I think it's kinda wrong to just rule it out when someone might need prayer. I was just offering prayers for protection.

....just my 2 cents. Love you all!!

Jim, you are right that i was swept up on emotions at the time i was feeling !!!!!!!:,( But it had nothing to do with a worship or group think, it was at home after geting home from school in the late evening and I was by my self in my room and it happened when i started to pray. And it wasn't laryngitise cause it make me make an awful face and and everything that would go with it. Though i think it likely was emotionally cause by it. God used it in the end to teach me alot of things though because he is good and can make much good come even of people evil(this time i think mine). It made for a bit of a rough couple of days but God really showed me how to handle that kinda thing and i am sooooo glad. I learned that no matter how depresed i am when i normaly know that God is looking after me but don't have the spirit to pray or can't face him I can say the Jesus pray, like in between each tough and he will save me by his mercy and grace. And previoulsy i was really wondering if those types of prayers had i place and a time(more wondering what their place and time was that if they had one). So you see Jesus in the King and God loves his Children.
