  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey there! I'm starting this thread in my campaign of the awareness of the voice of God...

SnuP (which ironically is PunS backward lol) opened a thread on your relationship with God. Relationships develop through communication (primarily). So here goes:

What is God saying to you right now? Is He saying anything? Are you listening?

Now if it's too personal and you dont feel comfortable sharing that's fine we'll all understand. But for those who are recieving specific instructions or just enjoying chatting with God... please post and share what God is doing because we'd all love to hear (at least I know I would) :D :D

I'm still kinda new to everything, but I thought I would share my experiance.

I never really understood what it meant to have God talk to you. I thought I should literally hear him say something to me. One afternoon, I was sitting on my bed reading my Bible. I was reading in Matthew and this one verse just kept jumping out at me:

"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day.

At that time in my life, I know I had so many things going on. I was worried about everything falling into place and how everything would work out. When I read that, I just felt at peace. I knew that God would take care of everything and I shouldn't worry so much about what will happen, but more about what is happening. That, to me, was God talking to me.

Well Amy I think that that was God at that time. But I know that there is more to hearing the voice of God than these instances. God does speak to His people today in concrete ways like that as well. And I do know that He has an audible voice.

Right now I feel He is leading me to do more fasting, so I can hear His voice more clearly. It's been a while sense I have done any real fasting. Also, I believe He is leading me to read in the Psalms. The third area is just to be more loving with people. Try to be a blessing if I can.

If you are in the scripture on a regular basis and have a good prayer life, God will speak to you in both of those ways. It is not going to be audible but he will point out areas of your life that you need to adjust for Him. God wants us to be close to Him, so He will speak to us.

I don't hear an audiable voice. I believe it's possible to hear it, but when I pray God speaks to me differently. He speaks to me through answered prayers, through His word, through my thoughts, through a lot of things.
There are certain things He has made clear to me lately, like my calling.

On Sunday we had the latest in a series of sermons from Acts which has been focusing on our mission and the work of the Holy Spirit. Last week was witness styles and techniques based on the passage at Paul in Athens (Acts 17), this week the sermon was illustrated with a game of snakes and ladders! The messasge being that we are not careful we live a life continually suffers set backs that take us back to where we were before.

I have been taken through a study series through Genesis and have seen what the results of sin and how God formed his covenant as a result of Abraham's faithfulness.

In recent months I have been considering taking some formal training for lay ministery and should be enrolling in time for September. This started with the nagging feeling I should take a course at a certain level. After prayer this has been discussed with the nearest and dearest. After further prayer, I reviewed my career and decided that I should definitely not give up the day job (there is plenty of oportunity for that to be kicked out from under me). After praying through Lent the topic was breached with the Vicar, with whom after more prayer supported the idea for going on the course that did not end up with a flashy diploma from an elite institution but to go on the one that took more than twice as long and didn't because of the practical content.

I have also been considering taking part in a web based ministery that looks as though it has fallen flat on it's face. By taking part in this board I have had different opinions tested and have become better informed. Hopefully I may have made a few contributions that have helped others. (Shame about losing some in the crash but some will not be missed )

So God has spoken in many different and varied ways. Perhaps it is a good thing He has not had to appear in a blinding light. That may be reserved for those who don't listen.

Ah, hearing God's voice...kinda like looking for a needle in a haystack to me!! Lol, just kidding. Really though, I have had a hard time with this as well. It just can get frustrating, I think only once I have had the experience of hearing God in my thoughts, and that is when I was having a really bad time, but I cannot be sure. But yeah, God's voice is a topic that has eluded me some, it seems some people are connected to God like a direct phone line up to heaven or something, it kinda bugs me when people are like "oh yea, God told me this, God told me that" and I can't help but think, "well, why doesn't He tell ME these things??" Yeah, sometimes I can't help but get the feeling God likes to watch me sit here and struggle with decisions, but that can't be true.

God speaks to me in so many different ways. I do not even know if I could count them all, but maybe there are at least a dozen different ways that He speaks to me and talks to me.

By far and away the best is when we enter into His presence. Like when we are singing and worshiping God at church. There is so much peace, comfort and joy and you long for Heaven when it will be like that all the time.

He speaks to me thought the Holy Spirit and though angels. You always know when it is God speaking to you, because He does not ever tear us down or belittle us. He always builds us up and encouage us. To show us the way we are to go and to let us know we are going to make it.

I can not explain it all, but He speaks to me almost every day, sometimes 4 or 5 times in a day. Sometimes it is very short, other times if I am doing a study on something, it could be for an hour. Those are the times I really do not want to leave His presense because everything is so clear, and I know it will not be as clear to me when I am not off with just Him and me.

I really long for it. I spend a lot of my time long to be with God and to enter back into fellowship with Him and into His presense. I love the annointing, and I love to abide in it.

I know what it's like... but I've had to learn this on my own... it hurts God more to see you in pain than it hurts you to think that He has abandonned you.

I know there's been so many times with me right now and still counting... that I've wondered why He hasn't said anything yet? I mean (like you said) to others He seems to speak all the time... but little ol me who actually sits and tries to seek Him out... to me He remains silent. And I don't get it :) But I've kinda learned that I'm not supposed to.

For both me and you... God isn't speaking because He has a plan higher than you or I can fathom at the moment. And one day when He starts talking I'll be sure and ask Him about it (if it's not just that obvious). :D

Hope this helps :) Have a great day!

That's awesome Jesse... but like how do you hear it? Does He just speak to you when you pray... sounding like there's another person in the room with you... or what many people call a "knowing" in your heart. See I don't hear anything so I don't know what it comes like lol :)
