I like some of the Gangsta stuff (note that I say SOME, though) from the early 90s, from when they were talking about rolling up on eachother and whatever else they talk about. But I hate the old school stuff, and I REALLY hate the current crap. It's not music to me.

what got you all into hip-hop?

Well the first rapper I ever started listening to was Eminem..then I checked out some other good rappers..Nas..Biggie Smalls, Tupac, and I became interested.

Dunno why everyone hates it...I think its great.

I strongly urge all of you to purchase Lupe Fiasco's the Cool. Really excellent stuff. Not like your typical mindless mainstream hip-hop.
yeah, that's a great album. Hip Hop Saved My Life is probably my favorite track i've heard off of it so far.

i don't like the mindless mainstream mostly, although they have catchy hooks that's about all they have and it gets old. Lupe, Kanye, Nas, Ques, 2Pac, Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff...hip hop with some substance is what i like.

Oh My Gowrsh! someone else whose heard of Nujabes!!!!

I love hip hop, it's my passion. But i can't stand any mainstream hip hop. Even the alternative leaning types like kanye west tupac nas or B.o.B i think are mediocre. I started listening to a producer named Nujabes who does a lot of instrumental hip hop and works with poetic underground rappers from the United States. Since then i've only targeted that type of sound, the japanese hip hop + poetic underground style.

I listen to;

Nujabes
Shin Ski
Nomak
CYNE
Emancipator
Abstract Rude
Marcus D
Kenichiro Nishihara
Force of Nature
Fat Jon
Valentin
Anime/videogame/movie music
Michita
Lems
Kuroisoul
Kodomo
Kenjo
Jemapur
Demicat
Bugseed
Blazo
45
No. 9
Pinback (<--- Indie rock band!)
Uyama Hiroto

Most of those guys are producers who do instrumental hip hop, but many of them have rappers over some of their beats and CYNE and Abstract rude are both all rap.

I listen to a lot of mainstream Hip-Hop and Rap artists.
Some Christian artists I like are Lecrae, Grits, Da Truth, KJ-52, G-Notes, and others.
I grew up with a strict dad who only listened to classical, and we weren't allowed to listen to anything else, but that.
So, I needed something harder. Something with some bass. lol
