I do not want your money, W? I don’t need it. God is taking good care of me. Give it to a person who can’t pay their heating bill or buy groceries, I would only buy a BMW with it.

(And how did you come by my address? Or were you just being facetious?)

I trust that you have given it in the true spirit of giving and I will see that our two missionaries to children in the slums of Edinburgh, Scotland gets it. They are truly deserving and will be grateful.

You are assuming (judging?) unforgiveness in someone’s heart, Blade. What I am seeing is an anger (indignation) directed toward men using the gospel as a cloak to defraud naïve, trusting people (among them widows, underprivileged, limited incomes, elderly) out of money.

So this thread is not silly at all. It is needed.

Jesus got angry, too (and I am sure their were some who wanted to accuse him of unforgivness/bitterness). In fact, he got angry at least three (some say six) occasions – like,

1). when he forcefully drove the money changers (who also preyed on devout people) from the Temple because they viewed pious people as merchandise (do I see a parallel here?),

2). when his disciples dismissed children, and

3). when the religious people criticized him in their heart for healing a withered hand on the Sabbath.

In each instance his anger was not sparked by some personal injustice but because God’s people were being made merchandise of, innocents were barred from his presence and because some saw religious rules as being more important than a man’s healing.

You should be angry, too, at the way God’s children are duped into pouring money needed to pay a utility bill into some evangelist’s Mercedes, mansion, and Rolex watch.

Your compassion seems to be for the abusers, not their victims. Why is that? Why do you seem to think the abusers are suddenly the victims!

Jim what you don't see is these people (victims as you say) are not giving to man, they are giving to God. If one of them (preachers) is doing something wrong it makes no differece because God will see there faith and will bless them for giving. You can give and give and give to a righteous man and be tossing your money away. Just like you told someone when they sent you $5. Jim how can I get angry? Who's word am I suppose to believe?

Yes who kicked them out? Jesus said MY house he kicked them out. He could he new there heart. All you have to go on is what? Nothing wrong with being angry but it is written Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath. And don't give place to the satan. Also you are asking me to talk about something I do not know anything about. If I talk about something I heard or read or seen it's just hearsay (Unverified information heard or received from another; rumor). You make is sound like God is just sitting on the bench and WE have to take care of it. Trust me God is taking care of it. So I will do for them what I would want done to me.

"You are assuming (judging?)" no I would not have said it if it was not the truth. It's not letting go of a hurt long ago. Silly yes. Hinn and Bonke are not using the gospel as a cloak to defraud naïve, trusting people (among them widows, underprivileged, limited incomes, elderly) out of money. You should know that PRAYER is the answer. Prayer will change things. But for us to get angry we better make sure we know thier heart before we open our mouth.

Thanks, Blade. Like I said to Celine, I am not railing against individuals (evangelists) because I do not know their hearts, and I refrain from using names when I talk about televangelism (except the two-decades-old ones below). It is not individuals, it is the SYSTEM that I deplore, the networks who refuse to set higher standards for their programming, who not police their clients, and who even encourage and promote a system that has brought too many men/women to shame, the gospel to disgrace, and have shed a dark shadow of distrust over the work of God in general. All because a few lack integrity and are not called to account for their actions.

Until their poop is cleaned up we all reek from their “accidents” (which were not accidents at all).

There will be more P/C televangelist scandals. I do not have to be prophet to predict it. It is inevitable (wait and see). Some corrupt televangelists will push the limits of integrity until a merciful God says enough is enough; then He will pull the rug out from under them, not just for the sake of the widows whose homes they devour, but for their own sakes. I know this because I have seen it happen too many times.

How can I say this? Because nothing changes. You would have thought the now two-decades-old Baaker-Swaggart scandals would have taught them something. But nothing has changed. They hide behind the “Freedom of Speech/Religion” articles in the Constitution, but the FCC is aware of their shenanigans and will someday find a way to bring them to justice. When they do, it will end religious broadcasting altogether, at least as we know it today. And I, for one, will be glad.

By their lax standards religious networks are more to blame for scandalous ministries than anyone else. They build the pedestals that unscrupulous wolves in sheep’s clothing use to elevate themselves (not all televangelists, to be sure, but too many all the same), provide them a platform for fundraising religious infomercials without any structures of accountability, and so, share the guilt of their indiscretions.

So, hold on to your seats. The next scandal will soon be coming.

I hope I can be gentleman enough that, when it happens (as it inevitabily will), I do not say “I told you so.”

Jim

I think people love to see televangelist fail personally. Because they have the mindset of scarcity the " The world is a pie and if you get a big piece that means theres less for me." But we need to have an abundance mindset. Asaph I was not condeming people i was condeming the idea of " Every televangelist shall burn in the lake of fire and brimstone." lol. I didnt sidestep your point. Though i considered your post a personal attack, we wont go there. There are good people and there are bad people. Thats how it will always be. But dont judge a book by its cover

I honestly do not know how I could have replied any differently Sean, but I will defer to your council out of the respect I have for you and the wisdom I see in your posts day in and day out.

My apologies to all.

Didn't mean to seem like like I'm busting your chops, just pointing out that we could all give alittle more grace toward others and that us older folks need to be first.

I know man. I just seemed trapped by something I hadn't done and I couldn't figure out what to do.

Brother Jim gave me the same council and I thought I understood and had a handle on the situation, but I was wrong. :D
