  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm so completely out of it. I don't know how to dress like a girl. I wear jeans and tees nearly all the time. :sigh: It doesn't help that they don't seem to make nice *and young looking* clothes for fatties my size.

Danged clothing industry!

I do like the majority of the shoes in this thread, but my feet are wide and I don't find many heels that don't look ridiculous in a wide fit.

T-Shirt and jeans are the best. I live and breath in them. I am sure you are beautiful, and the fashion industry hasn't seen a real women in 100 years. Can you believe they call a size 8 plus size? Oy vay!

Its alright, I'm too tall anyways to wear half of those shoes. I'll end up catching planes if I do. :p

If we want size acceptance, it would behoove us to not insinuate skinny women - simply for being slender - are not 'real' women or lesser than. If it's possible to be naturally curvy, it's equally possible to naturally be slender and tall, in the case of runway models.

Real Women Have Curves is bull. Not all heavy or 'curvy' women have defined waistlines.

I agree Trashionista! I did not mean to insinuate that. For me a real woman is a woman of any size.
Anyhow, I look at the cloths (shoes), not the models and I believe that is the point of wearing art.

Love the last picture of Carrie.

And the shoes make it all better... :relax:

You are not a fattie! :nono:  But, how wide are we talkin'? Some brands come in wider widths these days and you don't necessarily have to settle for ugly. I've seen some pretty wide tootsies in my day and it can be done. Depends though. I would suggest leather shoes (genuine, good quality) because they stretch, allow for more give. Also, cobblers or boutiques can stretch them out for you a bit (maybe leave them in the stretchers for a day or so). Stretch microfiber might be another alternative, too... but I'd be wary of straps because those can make your feets look like kielbasa in a cage. :sorry:

Also, Trashy... those YSL's look like buttercream... :yum: Like butter.. :unbelievable:

:sohappy:

Most of the time if I see something I like, but it only goes up to say a 16 and is cheap enough i'll buy it and then modify it. Well ... expand it would probably be a better way of putting it. I love, love, love bold prints but so many run their XL as a 14. Ho-hum, get to improve my tailoring skills.

This is oddly my new favourite dress, it's much plainer than what I like and a bit more figure showing that any of the others, but it's nice, relaxed and doesn't scream "look at my neon pink butterflies, look at them". Nice and toned down.

Girly threads FTW.

Cage shooties and sandles are so last seaon. Now it's lace.

Since you mentioned lace ... ugh. I actually think it's one of the most unimaginative trends to hit the streets of GB. It is lovely, but recently every single woman on a night out in the town is wearing some black/cream dress covered in matching lace, usually with long lace arms. They put so little originality into the outfit that it's like a business dress code, they even have the matching heels. It's like

The great majority on a night out will wear something like this. Combined with some sort of heel-boot, .

And if they don't wear that then it's this lovely little number with a bra and white jeans

I feel ever so out of the loop by not being particularly fond of all-over lace, keep trying to force myself to buy a lace dress to see if it would be possible to get over it but no ... can't even bring myself to try one on in the shops :o

</end lace hate>

I am not a lace person either. I think it is a over done and rather cheap trend. The shoes and handbags are ok and give that little oompf to the outfit.

Haha, I do like the shoes and handbags. It's just my brain tends to melt a little when there's a sea of lace, not even different lace just the same patterns in the same style ... everywhere o_O

I was like that. take your jeans and t's and start with cute flashy ballet slippers or something like that (work on one section of your body at a time and branch out)... you'll get there. it's not a race and it's not about anyone but you
