In Revelation 2:17 we read
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
You ever wonder what that hidden manna is? Lets take a few moments and explore the meaning of that hidden manna. Jesus proclaimed that He was that Manna come down from heaven, just as Jesus also proclaimed he was that bread of Life. In John 6:57-58 we read As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
When we understand that Jesus Christ is the very Word of God made flesh, then we can begin to understand what Jesus meant when he said my flesh is meat indeed. It is written in Luke 4:4
And Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written: `Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. In this we see that the spiritual bread of Life is the flesh of Christ, which is also the Word of Life; which is also that Manna come down out from God of heaven.
In the days of Moses that manna from heaven was to sustain the life of the body, which also was a similitude of the greater Manna to come in the flesh by way of Jesus. So now that we understand the Word of God is that Manna come down from heaven in Jesus Christ, then what is that hidden Manna?
In Exodus 16:33 we are given our first clue to this mystery. And Moses said unto Aaron, "Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD to be kept for your generations." In verse 34 we see this manna was to be kept and laid up before the Testimony of the Lord. And we also see in verse 36 this portion of manna that was to be placed in the vessel was also to be an omer, which is the tenth part of an ephah.
I believe this tenth part is an important clue because in the law it was customary to give the tenth part of the peoples portion to the priesthood, which was also considered the Lords portion. This hidden Manna was to be kept in the Most Holy place with the Testimony of the Lord as shown here in Exodus 26:33 And thou shalt hang up the veil under the clasps, that thou mayest bring in thither within the veil the ark of the Testimony; and the veil shall divide unto you between the holy place and the Most Holy.
And we know by scripture that the Most Holy place was only reserved for the High Priest, which is a similitude that was shown in Christ, our High Priest King after the order of Melchizedek. This type is also shown here in Hebrews 9:24 For Christ has not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into Heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. So now that we see the pattern of the earthly was to be sign of the spiritual in the heavens above we can then begin to grasp the meaning of that mystery which is hid in God.
Paul spoke of this mystery in Ephesians 3:9
and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ,
So you might ask, what is the fellowship of the mystery hidden in God? The simple answer is the hidden Manna isnow made manifest to us by way of Christ our Lord dwelling in us.
Anyone who has received this hidden Manna come down from heaven is in fact of the Lords priesthood, which Manna also was only lawful for the priesthood to eat. These are those who are given new names in Christ, which only they who are able to receive it will know and understand.
Jesus told his disciples in John 14:20 At that day ye shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
