Hello friends!

I was raised Christian, turned away when I was about 12, then came back to God after many bad, ungodly decisions. It was a rocky relationship, but I finally got baptised last week!

I decided to join a Christian forum as I feel like I still have so many questions, and nobody to really answer them. I go to a big church, and the pastor isn't very available for q&a.

Unfortunately I've reached a point where I feel my unanswered questions have piled up so high that I struggle to see God anymore (this has been building up slowly over the past few weeks/months), and my faith is at its weakest. The more I learn about the Bible, the more questions I seem to have.

One of my biggest questions right now (somebody please direct me to the right forum) is how I can rely on the bibles validity, when the story about Jesus saving the adulterous woman from being stoned in the NT was actually not part of the original manuscript? Somebody just...added it in? How many verses or stories are like that?

Much love!

Welcome to CF.

We can answer all of your questions. The part about the adulterous women was missing in "some" early manuscripts. It was the failure of a translator to include it.

There are some excellent books that deal with all of the difficult issues concerning Scripture.

Thanks! I'm just curious how somebody could miss such a big verse....?

I'll look into the books.

WHOA! That's not a good place to begin studying God's Word. :) You can buy a good concordance like Strong's and look at the actual word meanings from their "original" languages ... and read good commentaries of Scholars... but I'd stay away from the contemporary chit chat and conspiracy theories of the invalidity of God's Word.

Trust God in that He keeps His true Word pure... in fact JESUS is The Word, even with modern paraphrasing and such. Read the themes for what you need in life; I suspect it isn't more confusing issues?

God's love.... John's letter and the letter to the Romans are great starts!
