• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Well, today I lost a pet that I had for about 13 years.....It was a dog, I got up this morning to notice that he was laying in my backyard. I thought that he was just sleeping and...well he was not, my family does not really seem to care that much about the whole thing. I was already going threw depression before this happened...and I am sure this is only making it worse, I am so sad... :( But this is kind of a silly topic compared to other peoples problems..

You're not silly! Sometimes a pet is closer to us than our own family!

Dear Jesus,

Help this guy's family understand what the loss means to him. Help him through his grief and depression.

Amen.

Sunshine ran away a few days ago and I almost died! (I got him back yesterday though.) My dad's like, "I wish he was dead." I almost killed him. :)

The death of a pet is the worst, survey has shown that people in majority are more connected to their pets then to other people. Its awfull because usually pets don't live that long, But long enough to make complete trainwrecks of us when they do pass away.

However there is light at the end of the tunnel. One day you will see your dog back. From the near-death accounts that i have researched it has come forward that children before even entering heaven unite back with their pets that they lost during their lives. That's the only hope i can give to you to look forward too. You just need to allow and let yourself grieve for your lost pet. Just talk talk talk about it, you know whatever problem you have , how minor it even is , you can always count on support, you don't have to go thru this life or your grieve alone, no matter how insignificant it maby feels to you, you are always part of us.

I know how you feel. It is not stupid. I know that a rabbit is smaller than a dog, but I had Snuggles for almost 10 years. It is hard to loose an animal.I will be praying that you find strength during this time. God Bless.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I lost my dog that I had for 13 years in august, and it was a horrible pain; I understand where you're coming from, totally. I lost my granfather recently, and it is not a different greiving; it is one and the same as when anyone you love dies.
I pray that you will feel comfort and love from me and everyone here.
