I don't think that having high knowledge in a certain academic field means a lot outside of the field.True, but what does that mean? The most over-represented people are Jews. Are you suggesting that Judaism is therefore correct?
look at your own pollA quite different assertion, but still one presented without evidence.
That's not a Nobel for proving god. the person who proves got will get one, I promise you. fallacy.
I don't think that having high knowledge in a certain academic field means a lot outside of the field.
I wouldn't want to have the worlds best heart surgeon as my car mechanic.
Like I said, that's the only actual survey I've seen.
And once again, what's your evidence for believing that most "expert" chemists, physicists, etc. are atheists? What's your objective definition of "expert"?
Would you consider "having won the Nobel Prize"? This chart includes non-scientists, so atheists are actually over-represented (you might care to go through the book mentioned at File:Religion of Nobel Prize winners.png - Wikimedia Commons and check for yourself).

I can actually tell you why, at least why I stopped believing as my education rose, because I started to learn the evolution of religion itself, I started to see the stories that my Christian religion said you must believe, were adopted from earlier tales (like the epic of Gilgamesh v Moses) plus learning the rules of fallacy ( verifiable intellectual falsehoods in an argument) and the bible is FULL of fallacies, and I do suggest everyone learn the different kind of fallacy and look for them if you care about the truth.
Im not asserting nobel prize winners are not experts in their respective field, im asserting that nobody has every won a nobel prize for proving the existence of god. Someone has proven gods existence, thet would have won a nobel prize for that.Huh?
You don't like "having won a Nobel Prize" as a definition of "expert."
So what's your definition?
im asserting that nobody has every won a nobel prize for proving the existence of god
so you agree? the less education the more religion is important to them according to this, which is what I stated. The relevant poll to your most recent claim would be this one for the US:
Source: In America, Does More Education Equal Less Religion?
There's a reduction in religiosity with education level, but not a huge one. It doesn't mean what you think it means.
so you define my atheism for me then?Maybe you should start with Appeal to Authority as a fallacy, given that your whole thread here is built upon one.
Also the Epic of Gilgamesh includes a flood story reminiscent of Noah's Ark. It has absolutely nothing to do with Exodus. Seriously, you're starting to sound more like a caricature of an atheist than an actual atheist.
so you agree? the less education the more religion is important to them according to this, which is what I stated.
I never said you did, I said nobody has.I did not claim that anybody had, so that's a massive straw man.
And (given that most Nobel Prize winners are Christian), you don't like "having won a Nobel Prize" as a definition of "expert." I ask again: what's your definition?
straw manI never said you did, I said nobody has.
of course it has nothing to do with exodus, Gilgamesh was written thousands of years before the bible, the bible seemed to mimic large portions of that story. neither of which I accept as factso you define my atheism for me then?
ment to reply to theirs not mine, brilliant conclusion thoughAre you arguing with yourself now?
I don't really like to only look at nobel prize winners. For one thing, many winners feel compelled to weigh in on questions they have no expertise in (often contrary to the consensus in that field), and for some reason their opinions carry weight in the minds of some people.I did not claim that anybody had, so that's a massive straw man.
And (given that most Nobel Prize winners are Christian), you don't like "having won a Nobel Prize" as a definition of "expert." I ask again: what's your definition?
then what does it mean?I agree there's an effect. I note it's not a big one. I disagree about what it means.
