Hi everyone!
I'm brand-new here, so please be patient with me. I'm just learning my way around.
My name is Sharon Cannon, and I'm a computer programmer/analyst/consultant by profession. I live in Western North Carolina, I program PC's in Microsoft Access and Visual Basic, and I also program the IBM midrange computers in the RPG/400 and COBOL/400 programming languages. Prior to becoming a programmer, I taught the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. I'm single, and I'm 52 years old.
I am a born-again Christian. I am a member of an independent, non-denominational, Bible-centered, mission-minded church. I was raised Southern Baptist and am still pretty much a Baptist at heart.
I am my church's webservant.
I have a precious little cat named (appropriately) Precious, whom I adopted from the humane society. He was born in January, 2002, and I adopted him when he was just over a year old, in February, 2003. We've been together ever since. He is a male brown, black, and silver mixed tabby with a white belly and white legs. He's a small cat. When I got him, he weighed about seven and a half pounds, and the vet says he will probably never weigh more than about nine pounds. You sure can't tell now that he was ever an orphan-- he's fat and spoiled rotten now! But that's okay -- he is the best natured, cutest, most affectionate cat I've ever known! When he wants attention, he will roll over on his back, draw his little front paws up under his chin like he is begging, turn his head sideways, and look up at me with those big, bright, green eyes of his! SOOOO cute! And he loves to get up on my computer desk, turn over on his back in my arms, and have me hold him just like a human baby and rub his belly! And you should see how high he can jump up in the air and how he turns flips in the air when he is playing! He is just ... well ... precious! I'm an animal lover; except maybe for snakes, there aren't many kinds of animals that I DON'T like.
I live with my 92 year old aunt (or she lives with me, depending on your point of view), who is nearly blind and nearly deaf. But she's spunky; she STILL cooks better than I do!
My mother is in a nursing home; she is 87.
I love to read. Some of my favorite authors are Frank Peretti, C. S. Lewis, Hal Lindsey, and Larry Burkett. In nonfiction, I like Bible prophecy books, apologetics, philosophy, psychology, and computer books. In fiction books, I like mysteries and suspense thrillers.
I enjoy nature and the outdoors. I used to like to hike, until I got so overweight and out of shape. Now I mostly have to settle for downloading beautiful nature photos from Webshots.
I love to swim. I swim for my health and to relieve stress, but it's also something I really enjoy doing. I belong to a local athletic club, and I swim in their indoor pool most days after work and on Saturdays. It makes me feel like I'm rich, especially when I go sit in the hot tub afterwards!
That's about it! God bless!
