  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi!

Well, now that's been said, I'm not actually too sure what to say... I'm 16, male, no children obviously, and I am vaguely spiritual but find that none of the mainstream religions match my perception of the divine. And that's about all I can think of about me at the present. Oh, I'm also quite shy, so please don't take the slightly awkward nature of this post amiss.

I dont agree with alot of what the mainstream Christian church teaches and as grow more in faith by reading the bible, I really begin to see how far off they are on certain topics which I feel are of extreme importance.
There are some things that are not worth arguing about, because we all see things abit differently, but some things need to addressed. You were saying that none of the mainstream religions really fit you perception of the devine. Well as you learn more about Christianity, listen to you the urgent instructions of your heart. Christ is knocking on your heart as we speak and so listen to it. Listen to others too, but test everything according to what God has revealed to you about the scriptures. If your heart is troubled about something, then I would be wary of it. Just trying to help you, not preach to you.
